I think that those physics forums have crossed a line here. All Sciforums is full with their advert shit.

It may not have been an action by Physics forums, but by a disgruntled sciforums poster.

I think many are aware that the spammer is a former member of sciforums that once
forced, and requested, his own banning. RawThinkTank. He is doing the same again,
not sure of his purpose unless it is to 'prove' he can avoid being banned, or show he
can get back on sciforums again after being banned. I think physicsforums is innocent
in this barrage.

Apparently someone has already retaliated by spamming PF. If the original poster was RTT, this is probably exactly what he wanted, to provoke a "forum war". After all, he was also banned from PF.

If you stop and think about it, why would anyone representative of PF perform such spamming here, considering what the most likely response would be?

My advice would be for the mods here to remove the offending posts and ban the poster.

What I suggest is eiither an Ip ban or shutting down registration for a while. The incarnation that spammed the forums last night is the 14th since his reappearance. I douct that an IP ban will work. No new members have postd for a while, so I suggest to shut off registration.

I'll say lets see if he floats in water, and if he doesn't sink like a proper witch we should put him on a burnpile to see if at least he burns.

This is chroot, one of the co-administrators of Physicsforums.com. I'd like to extend an apology to you guys for the recent spamming. I'd like for you to know that it was certainly not done by a "representative" of physicsforums, nor is this sort of thing condoned by our administration.

It seems that one of our very new users, a rather stupid kid who has a total of eleven posts on our forum, took it fully upon himself to do this spamming. We, the admins of PF, will remove this person from our forum.

Just to make things public, we belive the PF accounts Premonitioner*, RoboSapien, and RawThinkTank are operated by the same person. RawThinkTank, of course, is a mentally-ill individual who has been filling your physics & math forum here with garbage for a long time. If the administrators of this forum would like to help with the investigation, we'd appreciate the shared intelligence.

We at PF do not condone this behavior, and are working to make sure it stops. I apologize to sciforums.com on behalf of all our members. I respectfully ask that you not respond tit-for-tat and make this a nightmare for the administrators on both forums -- just use the "report" feature and have your admins here delete the spam. For an administrator with proper authority, like porfiry, it'll only take about 5 clicks.

I'm with the "don't bother retaliating" group. Everyone knows the fuel for spammers and flamers is responses. They're similar to small children in that sense. Attention is their only goal, wether the attention is good or bad doesn't matter them. It's being ignored that really enrages these types so although doing nothing is less satisfying than yelling at them or spamming them in return it is the best revenge.

So my opinion is just quietly remove the offending posts, ban the user and forget about it. If they come back with a new identity, do it again. They'll get bored and leave soon enough.

by three seperate individuals. If there is ever any proof that a member of
SciForums is involved in a spam attack against another forum, you will be
permanently banned and your information turned over to your ISP.
