I spent the weekend watching the first two seasons of this show. It's good, really good, and season 3 is starting at the end of the month. Go rent it before then!
Mmhmm, Dexter's a serial killer who was raised by his cop dad to act out on his murderous urges only on bad guys.
It seems excessively violent and vulgar to me. The entire premise of the show is based around: "Murder is sometimes okay" unless "you murder certain people". Is killing okay? Sometimes, but Dexter's the judge jury and executioner - it sends a horribe message.
That's modern American TV in a nutshell. I don't even bother. I heard the dexter "concept" described and thought, wow. A killer who kills killers?...What is that? Now, if they had a doc. on that whacko that was running around shooting deer hunters with arrows, I may be compelled to watch. Just to try and figure him out. Maybe this is the kind of show he would watch.
Can we use this thread to discuss Season 5? First of all... PETER WELLER!!! The amazing star of Buckaroo Banzai, Across the 8th Dimension (and Robocop). He plays a troubled officer who's spying on Dexter and his new friend on behalf of Quinn. Spoiler So, Weller's character Stan Liddy sees Lumen and Dexter dump some things into the ocean (and photographs them) Dexter of course can't kill him because he's innocent. I predict Stan Liddy (Weller) will observe them when they go after the motivational speaker, Jordan Chase. Why didn't Dexter go more offshore into the gulf stream current as he used to to dumb the body? Did he have to get back to Harrison? How weird would it be if Dexter and Lumen move back into Rita's house? How long before the babysitter finds out about Dex? She seems to be very sensitive about these things.
