The murderous group of Taliban has added one more act of atrocity to its record by beheading Ajmal nakshbandi the Afghan journalist they had taken hostage along with the Italian journalist Daniele Mastrogiacomo and their driver. The driver was already beheaded , while the Italian was freed after the Afghani government accepted Taliban's demand and released a number of Taliban inmates. It's a shame that humanity has become so degraded that they kill the innocent people with no mercy and with methods not much precedented in Afghanistan history.

I cribbed a partial list of Hersh scoops - stories that Hersh had all to himself for a while (as far as the major media were concerned), and for which he suffered being abused for making unsupported and inflammatory accusations that no sensible person would rely on: I'm sure Hersh makes the occasional error, in fact or in judgment, but his track record is pretty good.

We are promoiting a bad image of the Taliban here, by using left-wing and alarmist vocabulary such as "terrorist". Since so many of Reagan's minions have found important roles in W's administration, and Reagan is so well respected as the Great Communicator, we should be using Reagan's terms for the Afghan islamic resistance: they are "Freedom Fighters".
