Biologist turned fisherman-philosopher Pentti Linkola:

I recall how ten years ago on
the first noon of springtime heat wave, at the finest Häme, at Kalvola's
Heinuinlahti, on the open waters of Vanaja I rowed my summertime rowings
observing and admiring nature. Cuckoos were cuckooing and divers
howling, and that was the kind of life which gave the content for a
friend of nature. And then a top class outboard motor, which started out
from a beach, of maybe fifty, maybe hundred horsepower started talking,
and drove rounds all that noon, circles at that bay making tight turns,
roaring for hours. Then I understood that there can't be any possibility
of brotherhood between men, and that I will hate and detest and loathe
this kind of person and similar people till the end of my life.

Haha..
Yeah Linkolan Pena..

I wrote a thesis concerning his writings in high school finals.
It was something about how three billion people should be killed in order to reach a healthy consensus etc..

One thing that irks me about this guy is how he sounds incredibly redneckish when he presents his stuff in Finnish.

Come to think of it… It actually fits in with the package

Fuck you and fuck your speedboats, I’m a fisherman and I hate these modern day abominations!

He tends to be a bit excessive in the way he provokes people.
In an argument he riles up the opposing sides into looking foolish using analogies and them – which is somewhat cheesy when used with people who truly work as debaters.

edit: http://www.taivaansusi.net/politiikka/linkola.html

Last year the Humanum forum inc. held a series of lectures where Linkola pronounced that an individual, who believes in humans has fallen below all rational reasoning, and that the EU which aims towards pointless efficiency is merely praising foolishness. Linkola also argued how the western culture is a horrible, shameful slap against the face of humanity.
Most of the audience was put off but these statements. But the ones with twisted sense of humour recognized the wit and laughed out loud. A small smirk even visited Linkolas face.

(Bare in mind, I translated this quite freely)

I guess you would have to know Finnish to notice. The imperfect translation into English just sounds romantic.

He's a little "out-there". Ecofascism is a misnomer, it's more that he's anti-democratic and idealizing agrarian society. I like his ideas but they seem a little short on practical application.

I've heard many rednecks philosophize in a very similar way about the evils of snowmobiles and power-boats. It's very common...

When you like sailing and canoeing, it's very annoying. It's the lack of subtlety that hurts the most.

Ecofascism is simply pragmatic. I don't see why people are afraid of it, unless they're underconfident. And if so, they're fucked up and useless anyway, so why prolong their lives?

Nature's temple is a holy place and a remote journey far removed from the bustle of petty minds crammed to the max with bitter mediocrity and agitated desires -- but savage minds now breathlessly intruding where once denied. And all it took was for them to wait patiently for the "modern" age.
