I nominate myself, because I contribute much to this site, and I think I have a general feel of the place. I would be hard on those who are overtly being trollish, and I will try to sweep up WE&P as much as possible to make this place respectable.

For the moment I have the time to do it, although that could change once the weather warms up. I can at least keep the sexual references and profanity out of my posts, a point seemingly lost on many that frequent this forum.

For what it's worth, I think it's fair to say that if you've been banned in recent months for excessive flaming, you probably shouldn't be considered as a candidate for moderator status.

I most definitely do not nominate my self! though I have the time politics and world events is a freaking mush pit and I would not at all enjoy moderating it, that and people would come to hate me for any correction or deletion I make. I will second wesmorris and sargentlard because I know them well as decent and calm people who can make wise and logical decisions. If we vote make the voting multi-choice so that we can choose the candidates we like not just one, hey according to mathematicians as reported in SA magazine this form of voting is superior to the conventional "vote for just one" system.

Would I get to wield a 'big stick'?

 

I think that it would be important for posters who post more then 50% of all posts on WE&P, otherwise it would un-natural selection. For instance why would one want someone who specializes in Biology on a Politics forum? I think the candidate has to have knowledge of politics from all over the world, and has to have have some touch moderation powers. I personally would enforce, and endorse new laws in WE&P to clean up the clutter. In return I would not post as much or even at all...

One needs commen sense, not political prowess to realize when stupidity and absurdity cloud posts. A troll or an insulting poster does not hide his intentions in political talk. WE&P needs a moderator who can help towards civilizing the place....that requires good judgement not political knowledge.

That goes for all forums. Goofyfish does not major in Biology but he knows stupidty when he sees it in the biology forum.
