If you want to get to the shop, what is the quickest way for you to get there. Is it run, walk, or take the car. No you let the shop come to you. Each piece of matter on earth is affected by gravity etc. Therefore as the earth spins on its axis and the gravitational pull of the earth acts on that piece of matter. You are not really moving you are at the same point in time and space. I'm only new at this so I don't know if this is a basic principle of physics etc.
