how come a meteorite/asteroid that blew itself up over the skies of new zealand be felt by seismographs unless there was some sort of impact ... and if there was any impact where the heck is the crater ???

The impact of the sonic boom shook up the Earth's surface, and that event was detected by seismographs. Those devices are so sensitive, they'll pick up a mouse scurrying on the ground. So, when a huge air pressure differential slams into the ground, it'll definitely be recorded. For example, seismographs routinely detect sonic booms even from human-made aircraft -- which would be far weaker than a sonic boom produced by a meteoroid travelling at 40,000 mph and exploding in mid-air.

that reminds me ofof the odd sonic booms detected by seismographs off the california coast , once a week ( if i remember right it was wendseday mornings )

Right, I've heard of those incidents on a TLC show, excuses that some have come up with are that new aircraft types are being tested on a near-by base of some sort. Odd smoke contrails were reported around the area too. UFO believers go nuts over such stories- =)
