Really? So how come theists are not trying to explain the origin of teh universe? Becasue they are satisfied with "god did it, i dont need to understand the details"
Atheism is the lack of belief of a god, therefore, Atheism is good in the fact that it discards at least one thing that cannot be proven. However, this is hardly an argument, much like any other argument of this sort, because it is rooted in opinion, among with other factors and variables. I still don't see how this is an experiment.
Ok so we become atheists to find out what a rainbow is. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Or maybe not What else? What if I have no interest in rainbows?
I cant count the number of times I have heard these types of responses from thesits when confronted with a difficult question "I don't know, but it must be part of god's plan" "god works in mysterious ways we can't understand" "you can't test god, your questioning is a sin" "you shouldn't doubt god, just have faith" "we are not meant to know that" "it is a mystery that nobody will ever know" shall i go on?
Atheism is about discovering the origin of the universe? Interesting. Ok I'll accept that, even if I fail to see the connection. Why are atheists interested in the origin of the universe?
This is a rant on theists, and you are breaking the rules of the OP I don't want to know why theism is bad, I want to know why atheism should be considered.
see the previous post. I like understanding how things work and im not satisfied with explanations religion gives me.
I will once again request atheists NOT to discuss theists or theism or morality. Convince me why atheism is the preferred option.
Blithering nonsense. I don't believe in mermaids either. It's not a belief that there are no mermaids, it's a lack of belief in their claimed existence. It's not a statement that there isn't but that there's nothing to suggest there is. Working out the difference is absolutely essential if you intend to debate in places like this. As for why people should consider it... It isn't a choice. You don't just sit down and say "hmm, I'm going to believe in leprechauns" and then honestly do just that. You couldn't force yourself to, or not to.. if you pleaded and begged with your brain for the next decade. Further than that, who cares? Nobody I know really cares what you believe. The only issue stems from when you try and force that belief on everyone else. Be an atheist, don't be an atheist.. it's inconsequential.
You are making it impossible to answer. For me, atheism was considered becasue theism is bad. I was raised catholic, indoctrinated if you will. But as i uncovered the shortcomings myself and became frustrated with the ambiguity and contradictions i was finding, i considered atheism.
Like I said, you need to work out the difference. Anyway, I take it you're satisfied with the rest of my post?
No since you are unclear about the meaning of belief the rest is just blather. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I can't help you with your confusion in that matter... but it shouldn't reflect on the rest of the post. Try again.
It doesn't improve my ability to understand, it gives me the freedom to explore ideas myself and formulate my own opinions without worrying that doing so is doubting god.
So only atheists have their own ideas and opinions. Unlike me, a theist? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
