If you look at the rate of emigration from Israel its greater than the rate of immigration into Israel. Jews will vote with their feet. Eventually, the only ones left will be extreme right wingers who like the neo cons will probably do a nuclear first strike and become international pariahs. Probably, the Americans will then clean up that mess. By that time most Jews will dissociate themselves from Israel.

    Its all drama.

When you think about it there were not that many countries that followed the U.S boycott, only Australia, Canada, Germany, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand and Poland. They have referred to the speech as an 'intolerable racist speech' maybe Mr. Ahmadinejad is 'vile and hateful" but his speech certainly was not.

How many of these countries in Iraq/Afghanistan? Since Ahmedinejad also pointed out that the US and Europe were destabilising global peace with their adventures in the Middle East, I would expect that the countries with troops on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan would be "offended"

They're self-serving brown-nosers which is much of what these alliances are about anyway, quid pro quo.

They are so sharp they may cut themselves. The perceived bias towards Israel is more likely to fuel antisemitism than anything Ahmedinejad says:

    e.g.

How ironic if Israel becomes the reason that the US is no longer a haven for Jews.

Sam: How ironic if Israel becomes the reason that the US is no longer a haven for Jews.

I doubt that will happen anytime soon. I am presently in NY and Jews have contributed a lot to this city and to the country as a whole. I don't think this is a matter of Jews not having a 'safe haven' or whatever that means, NY Jews are Israeli Jews they are Americans, actually I think the whole city would lose its heart if there were no Jews. I think the issue is simply political in nature not religious or ethnic, the U.S must be willing to make a fair analysis of Israeli behaviour towards Palestinians, fair criticism of Israeli military actions and I think all financial support of the nation should end until they come up with their own peace agreement.

You may be right. But too many Jews in the US are Israel Firsters and the US has been steadily descending into chaos.

He was also cheered, very enthusiastically, by a lot more people than walked out.
Little countries are sick of being kicked around.

The walkout was a staged stunt.
If Obama was there, I doubt that he would have joined the walkout.
Unless you are going to bomb dissident opinion out of existence, eventually you are going to sit down and listen to what people have to say.

Haven't heard the description Amendinjerk before.
Not bad, but I prefer Armour Dinnerjacket.

The article by Naomi Wolf was written in 2007 and she's writing about the Bush regime, everyone feared collapse with Bush but his administration is over. She uses Thailand as an example but she obviously doesn't know anything about their politics; they wanted Thaskin and his representatives removed because although a populist leader they were incredibly corrupt. I don't think the article is passe and doesn't relate to the current political climate. What do you mean Jews in the US are Israel firsters? There is a wide support for the State of Israel in the U.S and its not just by jewish ciitzens, truth is you can count most christians as Israeli supporters. Why don't you recognize jews like these:

    http://whatreallyhappened.com/WRHARTICLES/jews_against_zionism.html

    http://www.nkusa.org/

    http://dir.salon.com/story/news/feature/2003/03/13/neturei_karta/index.html

You speak of Jews as if they had one head and they don't and you don't recognize when amercain jews say

"Israel, the rabbis believe, is the source of all the world's suffering, as well as the catalyst for a war driving the world toward catastrophe. America, says Rabbi Chaim Sofer, has been "hijacked by Zionists. This whole war is to secure the assets of the Israeli occupation. We, as Jews, have an obligation to tell the truth about this war."

"They're bound by a conviction, once shared by most Orthodox Jews, that Zionism is an affront to God and that peace won't prevail until the state of Israel is dismantled. The group, which claims thousands of members worldwide, was founded in Jerusalem around 1940 by rabbis opposed to attempts to create a Jewish state. There are branches of Neturei Karta in Israel, Europe and New York, where members make appearances from time to time to burn Israeli flags on Israeli Independence Day, which Neturei Karta's spiritual leader, the late Grand Rabbi Joel Teitelbaum, called "the terrible Day of Blasphemy."

I said most, not all. I do recognise the anti-Zionists.

And Israel firsters are those who put Israel before the US in spite of being American citizens.

I agree that there are probably Christian Zionists who do the same.

e.g. the Harman controversy, which is all over the blogosphere and almost completely ignored on the MMS.
edit: looks like it finally hit the headlines.

There are also Zionists who may not put Israel before the US e.g. J Street.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, Ahmedinadunajaduahabamanadajihad!

Your disgusting speech was translated and broadcasted to all of Europe, and so you have shocked Europeans and Americans + embarrassed the Iranian nation yet again, especially with everyone watching dozens of diplomats walking out on you, in the middle of your diatribe, and the crowd erupting into cheers.

You have embarrassed yourself, the Iranian nation, and your precious religion. You've also destroyed the purpose and substance of the conference, so the downtrodden victims of racism will hate you too for hijacking THEIR conference.

Your unbelievable insensitivity on the day when Israel commemorates the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day, and your delegades' screeching like brownshirts at Elie Wiesel that he's a "zionazi", with that animalistic hate in their eyes, is priceless and has made you all look like the savages that you undeniably all are.

Your speech did not make you look like a David, or a martyr speaking Truth to Power, did not garner any sympathy for any cause that you and the fanatical class of terrorists cherish, nor did you convince anyone of anything. You have made yourself and your government look like crazy fanatics, strengthening the resolve of western nations to stop your nuclear weapons program in its tracks, and pray for the day that the Islamic Revolution in Iran is overthrown. They may not know how to do that, but at least they really really want it to happen. As for those who actually agreed with you in that chamber, they were only your choir, and you its deranged preacher.

There was as much renewed support for Israel as there was disgust towards you. In fact, probably more, since this reminded the world where anti-Israel policies are coming from - unadulterated pure fanatical hate from the likes of you. Those who misinterpreted your speech are probably thinking even worse of you. For example, when you said "this regime must end", some interpret it as "we should kill all Jews in 'Palestine'". Some think you literally mean it - and they may be right. Your speech reminded them of that.

Your performance has also reinvigorated the moderate elements in your country just a few months before your Presidential elections. Iranians of good conscience are sick and tired of you destroying their name in the world. You are on your way out, little Hitler. Say goodbye.

otheadp is a good example of non-Israeli Jews with dual loyalties.

The Jewish anti-Zionists are not motivated by the same rationale that S.A.M. and Friends are. If there was a messiah commanding them to return to Israel, they would gladly defend it with the same passion as any Israeli. I think they are mostly just playing the game of I'm More Pious Than You.

True. Hence I only refer to them when religious Jews are invoked.

Really? Then what about the non religious jews:

    http://www.aish.com/jewishissues/jewishsociety/Young_American_Jews_and_Israel.asp

'What young Jews under 35 feel towards Israel goes beyond apathy to outright resentment. Israel complicates their social lives and muddies their political identity. Only 54% profess to be comfortable with the idea of a Jewish state at all. In Europe and on elite American campuses, internationalism and a world-without-borders are the rage. The Jews of Israel, with their stubborn insistence on protecting their nation-state, are, as always, out-of-sync.

Young American Jews do not wish to be tarred with their atavisms. On campus and where enlightened folk meet, Israel is scorned as a colonial oppressor. Who wants to be identified as a sympathizer with apartheid? Young American Jews today share fears of being out of step with their enlightened peers.'

    The link ends with this:

'The political implications for Israel are large as well. Fortunately, Professors Walt and Mearsheimer are wrong about an Israel Lobby comprised mostly of those with Jewish-sounding names. It is devout Christians, and not some nefarious Israel Lobby, which is the primary bulwark of American support for Israel today. That we have to rely on Christian support, rather than our fellow Jews, however, is a very mixed blessing indeed.'

Or what about jews like this one who wrote this interesting little piece:

    http://www.alternet.org/story/62618/

'The Zionist establishment has had remarkable success over the past half-century in convincing others that Israel and its supporters speak for, and represent, "the Jews." The value to their cause of making Israel indistinguishable from Jews at large is that it becomes a lot easier to shield Israel from reproach. It suggests, in the most emphatic terms, that serious criticism of Israel amounts to criticism of Jews. More than a millennium of violent Christian persecution of Jews, culminating in the Holocaust, has made many in the West rightly sensitive towards any claims of anti-Semitism, a sensitivity many Zionists like to exploit to gain a carte blanche exemption from criticism for a state they claim to be the very personification of Jewishness.'

    And this one:

    http://www.mepc.org/journal/9012_corrigan.asp

'The advertisement called upon American Jews to "dissociate from Israel." It expressed the concern that "the close identification in the public mind between Israel and Jews -- an equation vigorously fostered by both the Zionist movement and the American Jewish lobby, which has come under its control -- threatens to stigmatize Jews everywhere." The ad called for a two-state solution and for negotiations with the Palestine Liberation Organization.'

'How tragic that in our own time the very state established by Jews in the aftermath of this evil has become a place where racialism, religious discrimination, militarism and injustice prevail; and that Israel itself has become a pariah state within the world community. Events taking place today are all too reminiscent of the pogroms from which our own forefathers fled two and three generations ago -- but this time those in authority are Jews and the victims are Moslems and Christian Palestinians.'
