I read in the Science Illustrated magazine that American and Chinese researchers have made a significant discovery: Rise and Fall of Chinese Dynasties Tied to Changes in Rainfall. Does the reason that the stalagmite first formed in A.D 190 and and grew without interruption until 2003 (when geochemists at the university of Lanzhou harvested it) simply show the importance of the millennial cycle? A Pervasive Millennial-Scale Cycle in North Atlantic Holocene and Glacial Climates.

How so? Explain.

I am asking how the stalagmite shows the importance of said millennium-scale cycle.

It would make a lot of sense for failure of the rains to cause chaos--rebellions in China almost always seem to rise in the northwest hinteland, and having droughts that cause persistent crop-failure would certainly be a leading cause of trouble.

You need to look at the data of the Science Illustrated article and spot the 1,480 year cycle. Heavy rains A.D 360 and also again 1800, is a 1,440 year cycle.

The importance of understanding the D-O events and corresponding Bond events should be self-explanatory. Bond event. Why isn't the 1,500 year cycle even mentioned in these articles? Google 'millennial cycle' and you only get my physicsforums thread from a year ago! Does maninstream science ignore what it can't explain?

Ok, how does the existence of the 'millennium cycle' show it's own importance?

What? As Xylene said, it's powerful enough to directly affect global food production, and it's the lack of such that creates world wars etc.
