The Travel Agent (SAM) is dragged off to spend at least one night in the Penitentiary. His only hope is that the Lawyer (Norsefire) will bail him out; otherwise he won't be coming back to this town.

Following the town meeting, the newly-appointed Doctor (inzomnia) boards a Greyhound bus for a trip out of town for the night, courtesy of the travel voucher she got earlier in the day from the Travel Agent. The Doctor is safe from the Mafia tonight.

The Taxi Driver (domesticated om) is under CCTV surveillance tonight.

Night falls. The Mafia among the people convene to discuss their next move.

Norsefire: if you wish to bail SAM out of jail, please send me a PM and I will post a message saying that SAM has been bailed in this thread.

Mafia: inzomnia is out of town and cannot be killed tonight. domesticated om cannot vote tonight if he is Mafia, due to CCTV surveillance.

If I have received votes from all 5 Mafia (or 4 if domesticated om is Mafia) by 7 am UT, DAY 3 will begin around that time. If not, NIGHT 2 will be extended until approximately 25 August, 12 pm (midday) UT.

Mafia may now talk by PM. Non-mafia townsfolk may not talk. This thread will be closed until DAY 3 starts.

Last night, following her vow at the town meeting to get to the bottom of crime in this town visceral_instinct, the Private Investigator returned to her hotel (at the casino - the only hotel in town) to begin to plan her investigations for DAY 3. She took a brief break towards midnight to grab a drink at the casino bar. There, she exchanged some small talk with the Bartender, then returned to her room.

This morning, hotel staff knocked on the PI's door to deliver the room-service breakfast she had ordered. There was no answer, so the staff member opened the door to leave the tray. She confronted a terrifying scene: the was lying on the bed surrounded by a pool of blood. She had been shot once in the chest and had apparently fallen backwards onto the bed. Quickly, an ambulance was called and the PI taken to hospital.

The Casino Owner was informed about the attempted killing in his casino, and he immediately called the Mayor's office. But according to the Mayor's assistant, the Mayor didn't turn up for work this morning. This was very strange, as the Mayor is hardly ever ill and always comes to work on time.

Then, another gruesome discovery! In the alleyway where the bank manager was found in just two days ago, an anonymous townsperson (not a player) was checking out the scene, perhaps to see if he could collect a few juicy details to share with the Town Gossip if the subject of the latest escalation of crime in Plazmaville should come up in conversation some time. The garbage skip had been removed by the Police Officer on DAY 1 (as crime scene evidence), so the alley was bare, apart from a crumpled object lying in the shadows on one side. The townsperson went to investigate the mysterious object, thinking its presence strange...

The townsperson ran from the alleyway, shouting "The Mayor has been killed!" Quickly, those who heard called the ambulance for the second time this morning. The Mayor was found to be barely alive and, like the PI, in a coma. However, the Mayor had not been shot like the other 3 victims of the recent crime wave. Instead, it seems that the Mayor was stabbed six times in the back. If he survives, it is doubtful he'll even be able to identify his attacker, since he probably didn't see him or her approaching from behind.

Now the townspeople are REALLY scared! First, the bank manager was murdered in an execution-style shooting. Next was the attempted murder of the Police Office in a drive-by shooting. But last night there were TWO attempts on the lives of the town's citizens.

The Doctor is in for a busy day. It seems that even her surgical expertise can only save one person at the most, and it is possible that nobody will be saved. Will the Doctor try to save the Mayor? Will she save the Private Investigator? Or will both of them die? Stay tuned...

In other news, a homeless Hobo (BlueMoose) arrived in town last night after catching a motorist intending to visit the casino. The Hobo appears to be in the wrong place at the wrong time - this town is becoming a dangerous place to stay.

The town is asking: are the murder of the banker and the other attempted murders related? And who is responsible?

It can now be revealed that the Travel Agent (SAM) was NOT a member of the Mafia. However, life is not always fair, and SAM rots in prison for life, wrongfully convicted.

5 Mafia remain. 15 people are still in the game, including the Hobo. Asguard and visceral_instinct cling to life like a thin thread.

The Mayor (Asguard) and the Private Investigator (visceral_instinct) are both in comas in hospital and can take no further part in this game (i.e. not allowed to talk to any other player, either in the thread or by PM) unless and until the Doctor (inzomnia) decides to perform emergency surgery on them. Only ONE of the two can be saved (or neither of them).

The Travel Agent (SAM) is out of the game, since the Lawyer (Norsefire) did not bail him out before daybreak. SAM may not talk to any other player about anything game-related from now on.

All townspeople are now free to talk again. Mafia may NOT PM each other during the DAY.

The Hobo has no special powers, but like the Taxi Driver, the Gossip and the Village Idiot, the Hobo may get an occasional clue (maybe not totally reliable) from the moderator (me).
