Dr Shuker is a highly qualified zoologist and author, who would be a reliable professional to oversee the proceedings.

Yes, I'm a believer in animals which are more intelligent than a dog or cat and are able to remain undetected by mainstream science. The flying cryptid is another one which is able to remain undetected by mainstream scrutiny.

P.S Giambattista, that avatar is a tad too offensive for my message board

Get in touch with him then.
    Let's get this sorted.
Btw, what have you got against Charlie Chaplin moustaches?

    So am I.
There are probably dozens of undiscovered animals, most of which will become extinct before we ever get a chance to see them.
They would not have to be particularly intelligent, just secretive or remote.

But we won't be finding any in Britain.
And that lion saliva will be proved pure lion once Mr Shuker gets onto it.
    Hurry him up.
    I want my £4 (approx)

I've emailed him but I'm still waiting for a reply this time. He must be a busy man. Maybe he'll take notice, maybe he won't. Anyone reading this thread has an opportunity for sponsorship btw

This has just been posted in another forum:

Okay so here's a short story and another short story to back it up.

My friend and I were walking up to a school dance after a football game one night. I live in a rural town and so the the school was situated by the wood line on top of a hill. We waited for other people who never showed up, making us one of the last people to go up. It was about nine and pitch black out. The street lights were all fading out 'cause our town is too cheap to replace them. We made it to the top of the hill where the parking lot was and soon got this eerie feeling. We heard rustling and the sounds of swift feet moving through the trees. We stopped dead in our tracks in the middle of the street, under the street lamp. They got close and sure enough we looked to find two huge wolf-like creatures standing about five feet away from us on the sidewalk. One pushed its ears back and the other crouched down low. We thought we were dead until a canine howl came from the woods to our right. I think this was the leader because their attention was drawn and they went back into the woods. I'll never forget their features. One was a light gray and had some laceration to the eye. The other was brown and scrawny, like it had mange or something. We got to the dance and described the canines to our science teacher. She was baffled. They were too long and tall to be wild dogs or coyotes. No one believed us. I know what I saw. I looked both of those creatures in the eyes and kissed my ass goodbye.

There once were wolves in the area. A story that my dad would tell was that years ago they had what was called the Lobo Wolves of PA (look it up, they exist), a bunch of wolves caged up behind this old man's house. One day when the old man got sick and couldn't rely on anyone else to take care of them, he let them all out of the cages and into the woods.

Could wolves repopulate the area, breed with other canines, form packs, and venture too close to human territory? Everybody says that there are no wolves around here and if there were they certainly wouldn't come around the town. They usually say the same about bears but I've seen them in my garbage a couple of times.

Anyone have any thoughts or experiences of animals that are getting to close to society or repopulating when they shouldn't exist?

    Another one just posted:

Hello, I'm a fairly new member. But putting that aside, I need thoughts, advice, or anything helpful you could offer me.
    Here's the story:

I was talking with my friend on the phone who had moved to California. (I'll keep his name out of this.) So, we were just talking about stuff. He was talking than all of a sudden he just stops. I ask if he's still there. No answer. I start to get very worried, so I repeatedly ask if he's there. Finally and to my relief, I hear his voice. He just says "Hold on." and I say "Okay." There's a brief moment of silence between us and I'm extremely nervous. After a few moments, (I would say about half a minute. I dunno, I wasn't keeping track.) his voice finally comes back, but it's weak like he's scared. I ask him if he was okay, and he says yes. I ask him what went wrong and this is how he answers (note this is not his exact words, but close to it.):

"Okay, so I live next to this forest. It's not far away from my house but it's not close either. So while we were talking, I saw something dart in the woods. At first I thought it was an animal, but than I stared at it for a little while and it looked really weird, like an alien. So I was watching it and then it just ran off."

I'm very anxious at this part. So I ask him what it looked like, to see if I could rule it out as a known animal. This is what he says (again, not exact words but close.):

"Well, it looked short, like half my size (about 2 to 3 feet). I couldn't really see a lot of it because it was kinda far away and it was covered by the branches and stuff. But it was blueish-green and I think red-ish too...I'm not sure if there was red. It might've been something else. But anyways, it had really big eyes that looked completely black. It was like, giant black eggs in its head. Took up like half of the thing's face. It ran on all fours but when it stood still it'd get up and stand on its two legs but in a hunchback-ish way. Um...(he pauses) You know how meerkats stand up and they have their front legs tucked right next to their chest? It was kind of like that. The front legs I think had long white claws. I'm not sure if it was on the back legs too. It might of...(he pauses again) Um...I remember when it stops and it starts to run again, it kind of hops like a rabbit before returning on all fours. That's all I can remember about it. It went off fast."

So I asked him some questions. If it had ears and if it ran very fast. He says "I don't know if it had ears or not. I don't think so, but they might've been really small or something. I don't know. And it ran pretty fast on all fours. I don't know how fast though. Maybe like a rabbit or a big dog?"

So then I asked him what was the closest animal it resembled that existed. He replies "Um...I don't know. Maybe a dog, kind of? It's very hard to explain."
We talked more about it, saying it might've been an normal animal that was mistaken for something else. I told him not to go in the forest and to stay away from it because I didn't want that thing to attack him.

So, any thought anyone? I'm not sure what that thing was and I'm not really familiar with animals so I don't know any animals that would look like that. If you have any questions, I'll try to answer them if I can.

Did I forget to post Bruce's story?

    Hi everyone.

Firstly I'd like to say that I've been familiar with this site for quite some time. I've observed much in terms of articles and information being shared via the front page and forums for various personal reasons as a result of my history. Now, as it stands I feel as though if I expose too much, I could be endangering myself and my attempts to stay somewhat off the radar. Now, I know that sounds amusing to some, or impossible to others... Especially since there is no possibility for validation of experiences shared here... It is simply faith, or trust in which I ask you hold for me as I share with you this predicament. If you chose to have none, I can't blame you, judge away.

Seven months ago I was attempting to fall asleep in bed. I live alone, and I only have my dog for company as it stands. Before I explain what happened that night, I will try to cover a bit of back story. In the past, I have heard things, and I believe in my head with confidence that I have seen things as well that originate from behind my home. Loud screeches, dark figures and the sounds of scurrying in the bushes that seem more heavy and not at all similar to the sounds of wildlife. Of course we as humans try to examine the most logical explanation for things first (well, most of us), and I have tried time and time again to do just that. But I know when I see a raccoon or squirrel jumping from tree to tree in the night with what little bit of lighting I have on my back porch. But for the two and a half years that I've lived here, these sightings were frequent enough in nature to keep me somewhat paranoid about what was going on behind my house. My neighbors have said in the past they've heard loud noises but not seen figures in their backyard or behind their homes.

So on this night, seven months ago as I lay in bed attempting to fall asleep... I hear a ringing. The sort of ringing you hear from a TV without volume, or when your ears begin to ring yet there was no loss of hearing. I thought it rather strange and figured it was coming from one my electronic devices. While I was in the process of powering everything down, it stopped. I was relieved to believe it was not originating from anywhere else. Still, I continued to shut everything off and only moments after crawling back into bed, the ringing persisted. Covering my head with the blanket deafened the sound enough for me to fall asleep.

I woke up the next day feeling nauseous. I drove to work, I threw up, and figured I might have had a slight bug. I left work feeling weak, came home and tried to relax. The day went by rather normally, I perked up a bit and my concern about the connection of the ringing to my sickness faded. My dog, who for quite some time has been a great companion refused to stay by my side. I didn't notice this in the morning time but it was blatantly evident that there was something wrong with him after I'd come home. Hiding under tables, staying in opposite rooms, not typical behavior at all for him. The worry began once more. I didn't eat much, and neither did he.

In the evening of this same day, I had to pick him up, and take him outside to relieve himself... The amount of fighting and cowering I witnessed was unsettling. He was quick to run back inside and I was quick to investigate the darkness behind my home. With my flashlight in hand, I looked around and saw nothing. As I turned around and clicked the flashlight off, a large figure stand before me with the description that I'm sure you've all heard of many times before. It was alien. Skinny, tall, large eyes, but it was battered and beaten. It appeared sickly. My brain engraved the image on my mind as I quickly blinked, stepped back and shook my head. The image from my eyes vanished and I collapsed under my weak knees.

I sat there, on the grass for a good hour. My head was racing... If I reached out could I have touched it? I'm not trying to convey an exaggerated story for you all. It was there. If not literally, something want my eyes to see it.

And now for the record, I have no mental health issues, no background of abuse, mental illness, serious physical illness, etc, etc. To imagine something chemical, or psychological that would cause my brain to do this, is, well beyond me. And as the situation progresses, I myself was certain, this was not something festering in my brain.

For months, I've had dreams, and flash images appear in my head. Dreams that take me to underground places, bases or stations, flashes of people and places I've never met or seen. I see what appear to be spacecraft, both ours and other-worldly. I see people talking to what appear to be aliens and in other dreams I find myself seeing the Universe on a small scale, like I'm observing it from a position far away. The dreams are frequent, the flashes not so much... And when I say flashes, these are images of strange beings, or even just plain old humans I have never seen before and they disappear on every occasion in an instant. I know, to the reader, this sounds insane. I'm not naive to that. I came here, to share my experience with the hopes of trying to discover what the hell is going on here. You can inquire, interrogate, anything. I'll do my best to try and create a solid picture for those of you interested in trying to decipher what this might be...

As of now, the odd sounds of screeching and signs of rustling in the bushes at night continue. The screech is usually short, high pitched and heard from within my home. From my television room I can see out into my backyard, and at times, as crazy as it sounds, I swear I see figures running through the yard. I get up to see in a hurry, but no visible evidence of intrusion is there... Though the odd time a screech in the distance accompanies said sighting. The flashes, as I said aren't as frequent as the dreams in which I see many strange things, but the order of events and there cause and effects seems all to coordinated... And I'm concerned for what might be ahead to be honest.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for your time.

You have to be open to the possiblity of a nandi bear attack to be see the possible evidence.

What's your reason for more lions attacking people on a waning moon then?
Oh-em-gee, I just heard on TV last night that the waning moon has moderate tides. Kerching. It's the reason red crabs travel across the land and the females seek the sea to release their eggs. It favors the aquatic female fishing cycle. Moderate tides with a moderate moon. Perfect conditions for swimming and hunting by sight. It fits with the idea of a male fighting season, at the same time as female activity for the 5 days of a waning moon. Hence the high attack rate for unsuspecting humans, we look too much like rampant maned dogmen on their rear legs. A maned dogman in the height of 'musk' is too stupid to spot the difference, or care..

It's the best explanation there is given the facts. The real lion hypothesis simply doesn't fit as well.

Looking like a rampant male dogman is a more sensible solution for lion attacks than the lion being hungry?
    That's a good one!

That may apply to you CSS, but I look nothing like a rampant male dogman.
I would probably be quite safe in Africa then.

So, I researched a little bit about the hyrax than I told him about it and then sent him a picture. He said it does look a bit like what he saw, but he doesn't really want to talk about it constantly. Though it did give him relief about what he saw.

Thank you *CSS* for the link and thanks to everyone else for helping my friend. I really appreciate it

    common_sense_seeker,

Seriously, this thread is retarded. I went camping this weekend and a bear ate my toilet paper (I watched the entire affair). The relevance? Nothing. Just like this thread. Let it die before someone assassinates it.

The short coated grey female dogman which appears infront of lone intruders of their woodland or remote territory is a good alternative to the grey alien from outerspace imagery of the 80's. This is a very real phenomenon, whether you like it or not.

    Posted today:

Some background: I am a scientist, so I am incredibly scientifically orientated. When looking at paranormal events, I take the event with a grain of salt. As a kid, I believed in ghosts. Once I got to college, I abandoned my beliefs and wrote them off as things with perfectly rational explanations. However, there are just too many unexplained phenomenon that do not have rational explanations, and about a year ago, I encountered one of these paranormal activities (ie I'm starting to believe in ghosts again).

After studying for an exam, I left the library at 1AM. I was completely alone and walked to the bike rack to unlock my bike. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a black shadow float from one end of the courtyard to the other end of the courtyard, about 100 feet away. At first, I thought my mind was playing tricks with me. As I was about to get on my bike (at this point I'm looking straight ahead), I suddenly see the shadow again. This time the shadow bolted across the courtyard and disappeared into some bushes (I saw it for a split second).

I was curious to see what caused the shadow, so I biked to the place where I saw the shadow. I did not find any animals or people after 2 minutes of searching.

I visit this library regularly, and I commonly leave at 1AM. As of this date, I haven't re-encountered this shadow.

    Thoughts?

    Just posted today:

I have a friend who lives out in the country in Texas, and I visited her for the first time a few nights ago. On the way there I hit a deer, (for the first time) so I was pretty wired when I got there.

We relaxed a bit, turned on a movie, and watched it. After the movie was over I started giving her a massage, I sat on the couch and she sat on the floor. We were talking when suddenly I stopped and my body tensed, my hands on her shoulders were shaking.

What had happened was out of the corner of my eye I had seen movement, and when I looked there was a 6-7ft shadow figure standing in the door way to her kitchen, with its head hanging. It had no features, just the outline of the profile of a tall, skinny person standing there with It's head hanging. I'm no stranger to paranormal happenings, but this figure stopped me dead. I blinked and it was gone. She looked up at me, saw my wide eyes, and I stuttered, "I just saw a...uh...a something..." And she stopped me, saying, "I don't want to know about it."

I looked at her doubtfully, then stood up to check the kitchen and surrounding area, with her saying to my back as I did this, "Would you just not worry about it? Just stop. Seriously." So I came back, still pumped with the adrenaline of my experience and that electric feeling you get when encountering paranormal things.

We talked for a bit more, she intentionally avoiding the subject of what just happened, when I hear very audible movement upstairs. You know the sound that two story houses make when someone is walking around, moving furniture, and what not upstairs? Sounded just like that. I ask her if she heard that, she says yes. I ask if it happens a lot, she says yes. I try to ask something else, then she gets off the subject again. I begin to covertly ask questions about the house, and from what she said nothing has happened in it and it was built in the 90's. I leave for the night soon after, and text her the next day asking if I could investigate her house. She says, I don't want to talk about it ok? Then begs me to drop it.

What do you guys think about this? What I've come up with is A: Something dark has happened in the house that she's trying to cover up. B: Either her, or someone that has lived there, has dabbled in the left hand path, or C: The house was built on something.

The thing that worries me is it felt like the figure had power, which I felt tangibly. I told her I could try to get it out of her house, but she's obviously afraid of it.

They're coming thick and fast now:

"When there's something strange ...in the neighbourhood"

    Okay, I'll stop being silly!

There are plenty of threads of strange things happening to people at home and whatnot. I thought I could start the exact same thread, but in the workplace. Sorry if it's been done, I did have a quick check!

We all know a lot of buildings have rich histories and whether you believe in things or not sometimes it does get spooky!
I like to think there is no such thing as ghosts. It just seems illogical and even if there is SOMETHING, I like to think of it as "echo's" rather than a ghost in control of it's own mind.

However, this thread is aimed so people may post their own experiences at work.

DO NOT POST REAL NAMES, THE NAME OF WHERE YOU WORK, OR TOO MUCH THAT WOULD GIVE AWAY THE LOCATION. It is a very stupid idea to post where you work even if it's previous employment. Just describe it loosely. If you work in a Hotel.. Just say "a hotel".

    MY STORY:
My previous work was in a pub in the UK. It's a very old building down a side street and it's quite small. It's really only busy on Friday and Saturdays so the rest of the week is quiet. My second shift was on a Sunday. Dead. There was a couple of customers, and they were sat at the bar. No one had mentioned anything about the pub being haunted and even if they had I wouldn't have paid any notice as I don't believe in them.
That evening I went to get ice, the cellar door slammed behind me several times, I put this down to a draft or lousy measuring and ignored it. Later on that night I noticed a figure sat in the bottom section by the door that enters the cellar. I only caught a glimpse as I wasn't really looking, but I definitely saw something there. As soon as I noticed I looked back and there was nothing. I put this down to my bad eyesight.
The next shift was a Friday, after work the staff had a lockin. We were all chatting and I spoke up about the figure and everyone went silent. No laughter. They said most of the staff had seen the same thing. I know how it is with people. They often try to frighten you, or unnerve you. So I ignored them.
I saw the figure several more times but each time it was a glimpse and it was lost again. I never once got a good look at it so never paid it attention. A new member of staff started one evening and I sent her to clean the toilets. She came out crying, grabbed her bag and ran out. She didn't stop to say anything. She never came back. I realised then the staff probably weren't lying to scare me

I now work in a hotel in the UK. The building has a rich history (don't they all).
There used to be a morgue downstairs where the cellar now is. They STILL have the morgue fridges down there, which I find ridiculously creepy. However, I didn't even notice they were still there for a long time as that part of the cellar was not part of my job at the time. Upon opening the bar one night I saw a man stood at the end staring at me. I saw him that clearly that I could identify him in a line-up. Grey hair, smart suit. Quite a modern suit, I think. I spoke to him. I said "Sir, how did you get in here? The bar is not open yet!" and he vanished. I burst into tears and ran into the office. My manager told me to take a break. I did, and went back to work. No man.

On occassion I used to help out on housekeeping. I refuse to go into Room "1408" (I'm only calling the room 1408 because I'm keeping the real number secret). The two times I ever set foot in that room I was shoved from behind. Once when making a bed, once when in the bathroom. I was in tears both times. I still get creeped out walking past it. When I told my manager that I refused to go in there any more she didn't even ask why. She just said "that's fine, don't worry"

There have been countless reports from guests that they have been shoved out of bed (different rooms), felt a presence, had things thrown at them!

The reason I've started this thread is because I've just gone to make myself a cup of tea and a sandwich and felt really uneasy. I'm the only member of staff in the building.

    What's your story?

    Posted a few days ago:

One day (I forgot the exact date but it's not really important) a few months ago, my sister told me and my mom about how she experienced something that she thinks for sure was an evil spirit. We've never experienced anything paranormal in this house (except for the 2 weeks after my dad passed away, but that's a different story) so there's really no reason to believe it's going to come back.

Anyways, my sister said that she was sitting at the computer in the dark since we turn all the lights off after 2:00 am to keep my mom from complaining, and that she was watching a new music video on one of the blogs she reads (she reads 3 blogs every night starting at midnight out of interest). After the video was over she said she heard a really loud bang on the wall and then a click on the keyboard and you know how when a video is fullscreen, you can press esc to close it? Well she said after that the video closed but she hadn't touched the keyboard.

Then, she said she also felt like a lot of pressure on her ears like they were being clogged. After that she turned around and said that she saw a black silhouette, but since it was in the dark, she couldn't make out if it had any characteristics other than its shape (shaped like a human). She said that it was getting closer to her and that as it was moving closer, she started hearing a loud vibrating sound like the one made in that movie Paranormal Activity (yes I know everything in that movie is completely fake).

So she said that she got really scared and mad, but too scared to scream so she said "please God! Get this evil spirit away from me!" and she said after that, it ran outside really fast and she heard it knock something over outside. I asked her what if it sounded like something big and she said it just sounded like a can or something. The reason I wasn't up to hear it was because I happened to be asleep for school that night and I am a very heavy sleeper so it's no surprise that I didn't hear a bang on the wall farthest from my bedroom. :/

Anyways, when she went to bed she said she tried to wake me up (but again, I'm very hard to wake up) and said she couldn't. So she prayed really hard and said that it didn't come back. Nothing strange has happened since then, but I was wondering, could it coming in our house leave something that attracts other spirits? Also, could the fact that we tried using the ouija board (with no result) a loooonnnnnggg time ago (maybe 11 years ago?) mean that there could still be a portal open from that time or something? Also, another thing to be noted is that she said it was somewhere around 3:15 am that it happened and I've heard 3am is known as Satan's hour but I think that's just a superstition.
