I would like to know why THIS THREAD was locked.
No explanation was given in the thread.
I believe when a thread is locked, an explanation why should be offered in general, but I have a specific interest in this thread.

Oh that thread..yeah, made me wonder, too. But then again..I've got the feeling that it had something to do with the fact that it was somehow derailing, and yes, I'm partially to blame..

I'd just like to say that it wasn't me who locked it.

    Why do you care?
It's a thread from 2008. No one has contributed to it in almost a year and, in the mean time, Sniffy came back.
And to be fair, it's hardly about anything anyway.

Why does it matter why I care?
    I do.

It was contributed to by several people just last week.
What is the reason for locking it, if it's "hardly about anything"?
It is actually about something very important that you are unaware of.

    I was just wondering..
Are you saying that those posts have been deleted?

Funnily enough in the link that you posted the more recent content appears to have been deleted.... was that at your request oneraven? I would have liked the thread to have stood.

James said he didn't lock it - but that post is now gone.

It's weird because I don't see any deleted posts. They must have been hard-deleted.

Err.. I couldn't if I wanted to. I can only lock threads in my own forum.
If you look what mods are assigned to the subforum, I appear to be the only one that's not assigned to it lol

    What does 'hard-deleted' mean?

That it's really gone. That's about all I know about it.
I can only soft-delete posts, meaning they are recoverable.

Moderators can only "soft delete" posts, so that other mods and admin can review them. They show up as "deleted" but you can click and view them if you have access

Only the admin can hard delete them so they do not exist any more.
