` OK, not literally... ...just politically. Seems he wants Patterson to bow out for 'the greater good'... Because... As an inmate of the Soviet Socialist Republik of New York, my assessment of Paterson is: Non-Entity. It's nothing to do with his political affiliation. We had a republican governor here for a while, and he was equally worthless. Poor ol' Dave is just stuck being the understudy who got to step out into the spotlight - courtesy of the last bozo we had sitting on the throne here, and is certainly not the first governor to discover that the whims of a certain turd-like extrusion of land jutting out into the Atlantic are what charts the political course of the "Vampire State". Now it seems he is being called upon to make his personal - and/or professional - sacrifice to the Ossianic Dream... ..at least he'll get a tax-free state pension.
Patterson is not a viable Democratic Party candidate. He is not a popular Governor. I'm not saying he's a bad Governor (I'm a NYS resident) just unpopular among everyone I meet. I might say it is a pity that the Dems are airing their dirty laundry like this, but I personally hope that both major US political parties will eat shit and die.

Gov Paterson is the worse politician I've seen in a long time. First of all, the Kennedy's told him they'd campaign hard for him if he appointed Caroline Kennedy to the open NY Senate seat. Instead, he embarrassed her in the press and blew off one of the most powerful political families in the History of America. He's also alienated the the NY press by accusing them of racism for his moronic decisions. Politically, he's to toxic for Obama to go anywhere near him.
Not kowtowing to the Kennedys might make him seem inept at "playing the game", but I gave him points for telling them to bugger off, so to speak. It didn't necessarily help the State of Decay - I MEAN - New York, but Princess Caroline had about as much business being senator as Britney Spears. She embarassed herself quite sufficiently any time somebody stuck a camera/microphone in her face, and she seemed incapable of comprehending why simply being a Kennedy & having done some charity work didn't amount to qualification for the post. I'm still trying to figure out what the Devil he was up to with the appointment of Kirsten Gillibrand. Rumor had it that this was a bone thrown to us lowly, provinical Upstaters, but who knows ? Nothing... ...except of course that some of them inspire comments such as Well, the blind really ARE leading the blind here in old New York...

I agree that Caroline was a terrible public speaker but that shouldn't preclude her from being the Senator of NY. She graduated with a law degree from Columbia University, so she's no clueless twit, just a terrible public speaker. She would of been a very effective Senator based on her name alone, since so many Democrats are loyal to the Kennedy family. If he would of appointed Caroline he would of had a formidable ally supporting him during his re-election, along with President Obama. Since he snubbed Caroline there's no way that Barack or anyone loyal to the Kennedy's was going to stand by him. Of-course it was, but in the end it's clear that it wasn't a sound strategy. I'm sure he's polling lower up state then he is in the burrows(boroughs).
They think that because they see him more in the burrows, that there's going to be six more weeks of bitching about elections. Got to get up in the air.
