Peruvian Deaths : Amazon Rainforest Defenders

Hey, In Peru, people are getting killed trying to defend the Amazon rainforest. The police have orders even though they are from Peru, and the Indigenous peoples don't want to give up the Amazon lands to oil drillers and etc.

According to the video below, there is not enough media coverage! And I agree!

I was listening to this on BBC radio 4 this morning. It's a tough one isn't it? the rights of indigenous tribespeople versus economic development. Personally I'm for the forest, I think the benefits of a culture living close to the land and not destroying much needed rainforests far outweighs the need for non renewable fuel for an economically growing country. I feel they're fighting the good loosing battle here though. The world wants fuel, not culture and subsistence farming.
