    Federal Health Benefits

If Americans are so wary of government issued healthcare, why don't they abolish it entirely? Why don't they make all healthcare privatised? Let each individual purchase his own at whatever level he can afford?

SAM, thats the stupidist suggestion i have ever herd. Health care SHOULD be a public service because its a human right in every developed nation EXCEPT the US

Yeah, but I'm asking why the Americans don't do this. After all, politicians get experimental brain surgery on taxpayer money. Is this what American taxpayers want?

If The United States moved to a completely privatized system of healthcare, more than half the population would not have healthcare. There would be political and social unrest.

They aren't, mostly. Some are wary of particular healthcare schemes, but that's not the same as antipathy to universal healthcare in general. Polls show strong majorities of American favoring universal healthcare.
