    yes thats what I meant when I wrote "ye" as a "э"

    about K, its written as "ka" you are correct...but is said as "ke" with "э" when saying KGB by Russians...there are exceptions.

    I am from a border of Ukraine and Russia.

    So if an acronym contains X do they pronounce the name xa or ? How about the letters ш and щ? (Edit: Got the Russian characters on my other computer and plugged them in.)

    I've always heard KGB pronounced as Keh Geh Beh - including from GRU guys - I never knew if it they meant it as some sort of sarcasm or not.

    from how I learned it, there are variations mainly of how people choose to say it, not how the book has it written down.

    I recently bought some old postcards with hucul people on them.
    The are also called Hutsuls. They live in the Carpathians.
    Do you know much about them?
