    Bells,

What you're saying reminds me of a message I got from a Chinese student when I asked them about Japan

    ----------------

Japanese leaders paid respect to Yasukuni Shrine, where war criminals are regarded as heroes and have not apologized formally to China, some Japanese also deliver false information on the invasion to their children by modifying history textbooks.
Many Chinese people feel anger about these. and today, there are still some right wingers in Japan saying crazy words against China. They should try to be calm and apologetic, they still have a long way to go in this respect.

War criminals are regarded as heroes everywhere. Ask the Chinese about Mao

wrong isn't the word for it. slavery is disgusting, vile, and perverted.
what really kills me is the fact that america condoned it for as long as she did.
but those days are behind us, blacks now occupy some of the most powerful positions in the government.

    Not really.

Slavery in the Muslim world was based on religious grounds in that it was forbidden to make a Muslim a slave.. But those of other religious beliefs could be traded and taken into slavery. While colour and race had little to nothing to do with it, some races and colour were valued above others amongst Muslims.

And there were also white slaves in the US.. I think the first slaves in America (as one example) were in fact white.

I don't know about forbidding Muslims as slaves.

There were many Muslim slaves of Muslim kings. They were made eunuchs and used as a source of communication between the male and female sections of court

No he murdered the iroqouis but they were not considered humans.

But generally speaking the "veterans" of American wars in Vietnam, phillipines, Iraq Afghanistan are all war criminals. It's only that like the Japs, Americans consider them as heroes.

That was another peculiarity of an age. Like the castrati music of Europe.

Nothing to do with religion but practised since the Egyptians.

Yeppers , looks like we have a pretty bad PAST.. btwn the treatment of the Indians and the Blacks.. which really has been based on religion.

I don't agree with what the US is doing over in the M.E. , in fact I think we have problems enough in our own country and we should stop trying to be the policeman of the world, until we get our own house in order... fat chance of that happening

I don't think it's based on religion. We have some of the oldest Christians in the world in India (Syrian Christians) and they never did anything like that. I think the brutality of colonisers probably has more to do with their history than anything else. They never treated each other any better

Go as far back as the Scythians, who were considered subhuman because they had coloured hair and eyes.

It's a peculiar quality, colour. It's been the basis of defining humanity for several thousand years in the European lands.
