Ask a Question to the Universal Translator
An alien space mission lands on Earth wishing to speak with us. They travel the globe and at random select people to talk to them through some type of universal translating device. Each person selected can ask one question. It is understood that the aliens will attempt to answer all the questions they've gathered once their indiscriminate sampling is completed.
What would be the most popular question asked? What should be the most popular question asked?

I don't think so. Remember that the aliens are visiting many places and cultures you aren't familiar with. Although that question would be a good one to ask I don't think I would because with every passing day we seem to be edging closer to answering it ourselves.
What you don't know is if they have all the answers. You don't want their anser to be "I don't know". So if you keep that in mind then does it change your question?

Can you find me a planet not populated by bronze age superstitious twits?

For one, if there was to be such a question asked to me, then it would be by no means a random encounter.
I guess however the "Most common question" (which is not incidentally my own) would be something like "What is the purpose of life?" (Since everyone has their own interpretation of an answer to that)

I have a question in mind but I won't reveal it just yet.(unless someone beats me to it) My question would deal with what I consider the most beneficial to life on Earth and totally answerable, not something I consider subjective.

to continue!
see instinct..... (all life is 'purposed to continue')
tap a pond, watch it go
but what most do not see, is that to tap a pond, they watch the wave ONLY, but fail to see that imposition is entangling more mass.....
such as the wave may appear to be getting smaller as it rolls out, but in reality it has 'captured' more mass.
to understand what "life" is or actually what energy is upon mass, then it is all easy and the 'paradigm shift' becomes elementary
so when the martians get here, you all can ask them cuz god knows you can't comprehend it from the quack himself

I agree with Stryder, the most asked question would most likely be "What's the purpose of life".
Or, perhaps, "How do I get rich easy ?"

Even though they got here.. they may not have that answer either
they may just as well think we have that answer

but i am typing, not talking ........

Enmos:..............I agree with Stryder, the most asked question would most likely be "What's the purpose of life".

the 'purpose' is 'to continue'
and that 'answer' was almost three posts up within the same page of the thread
perhaps, that is toooooo much reading for you?
perhaps too much to comprehend?
hope no one's buying your data capacity.

I'm just giving my opinion. The purpose of the thread is to post what you think is going to be the most asked question. It's not necessary to answer those questions.
So perhaps it's you that needs to improve your reading comprehension.
What does this even mean ? To survive ?

perhaps i was sharing your opinion is moot
as the answer was right in front of you and you could not comprehend it.
means your opinion is worthless
eg.....
what does 'to continue' mean....What does this even mean ? To survive ?
kind of like what a direction in time is....... or like the wave rolling over a pond.
it was started, it is now of 'intent'.......... 'to continue'
life is "purposed: to continue"
it sure aint for you to make a buck...........

But we have spent billions trying to cure the common cold and diarrhea, wouldn't then my question be the best one to see if they really are that smart?
