Question Anyone ever listen to the album of the year winner?

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss are taking home the Grammys' highest honor, winning album of the year for "Raising Sand." I just wonder, since I never heard of this album or even heard it played anywhere here, who has listened to it and what they thought about this album? I only caught the last award last night and this album won but I feel like I am really "out of the loop" when I don't know what they are talking about with this album winning.

Yeah, it's good stuff IMO. Plant sounds better on this one than I've heard him in years. And Alison's Alison. (nuff said).

Despite the unlikely combination it sounds far more natural and smooth than I ever would have expected (from Plant, mostly). They pull off some amazing harmonies but I think the song selection and relaxed style was the key to the album's success.

Did you hear it on the radio or where? I have net heard it play where I live.

I don't think something has to be hugely popular and publicized the make the nomination.
It's not like Nora Jones where people said "Who?". These two are masters at what they do.

Well they played Norah Jones here and "Away With Me" was all over the radio at one point. This years winner hasn't been played here at all and that was why I asked. It sounds OK but not something I would think would win album of the year though.

No, I read about it before it came out. I was naturally interested for all the obvious reasons. Fuck, the radio is an artifact anyway. It's the last place I would look to find interesting music.

Well I do listen to the radio while I'm in my car just to hear what's being played. If I only listened to one radio staion online then I wouldn't hear to much new stuff, although most of the new stuff doesn't appeal to me at all, that is rap crap.

Speaking of Norah Jones, you should check out a group she did an album with called The Little Willies. It's got some really fun tunes, like one entitled Lou Reed (Cow Tipping).

I liked Norah when she sang solo and soft stuff. That's where she really sounds the best to me. The Little Willies group is to hard core country and overbearing for her style, to me. She just doesn't sound or fit that style of music. Did you know she was Quincy Joneses' daughter?

Yeah, I can understand that. I was pleasantly surprised to hear her do something else, though, what with the great success she had with the softer stuff.
She's certainly talented enough to do more than one style.

As for her famous, pappy, I had no Idea.
