Rational Reasons for a Paranormal Event

I haven't been to this particular shopping mall in over 3 years. I used to live in the mall's city and at least I was familiar with the place somewhat. Last week business took me to this venue. Still I was not there to go into the mall but to meet with some people at the entrance of the parking lot. It was close to lunch and my business was not completed so I decided to visit the food court area and have lunch. I'm eating lunch when I suddenly get this sensation that I should look up because I feel there is somebody familiar in the area. I looked around and saw no one I knew but the sensation persisted and I looked up again a short time later. This time I spot my wife and daughter. My wife hadn't been to this mall in over a year and my daughter in over 5 years.

Remarkable as this coincidence was I can't help but wonder what tipped me off that someone I knew was close by. Did I hear something or did I catch a glimpse of something familiar? My wife had told me that morning that she and my daughter were going shopping later but did not tell me where. Was I anticipating a chance meeting with them or was I merely looking around because of my intuition, or did I just make sure I didn't miss them if they were there?

Or was it, cue the spooky music, telepathy? Ooooo, mysterious forces at work possibly.

or mayyybe...just maybe...your wife wears a particular perfume you can smell from afar.

If they told you they were going shopping you would have already knew about that and since you were at the mall you just were looking around and happen to spot them. While eating we all look around at who's walking by, getting stuff to eat and just passing by. You just happen to catch them while you were there. No big deal, you are making more out of this than you should. As you said, "Remarkable as this coincidence" , and that was all it was, nothing more.

You know Cosmic, who knows maybe humans can feel those they love and are close to...feel telepathically I mean.

 

I want to believe there is something more to life than what I see and feel. I want to believe.

 

That could be a possible reason but the fact is that it cannot be proved. In controlled studies they can't prove telepathy exists at all.

 

But the subjects of the Ganzfeld telepathy experiment did have 30% telepathic results.

 

Some people get lucky at times, they were just lucky that day. I wonder if they repeated that same experiment today , what would be the result?

 

CT, you know me better than that. I know it was a coincidence but I am wondering what tipped me off. It has to be something I noticed or I just looked around to see if this is where they went shopping in off chance that I might see them. I did have the feeling however, so I think something physical tipped me off. Subconciously I may have heard them or recognized them with a mere nanosecond glance.

 

That could have been possible, as I said, when we already know that she went shopping, you might have been already thinking about her and spotted her because of that.:shrug:

 

I am sure the result would be approximately the same.

This could be a new thread: Irrational Reasons for a Paranormal Event. It's an oxymoron I know but it makes sense to have the reason just as paranormal as the event.

I'm saying that if you want it to be so then it will be. Like knowing what you want and getting it despite evidence to the contrary. For all I know these jokers are after funding because maybe they need to eat, buy illegal drugs or purchase porn or whatever.

I was thinking that sometimes when you are exposed to a certain kind of stimulus you tend to notice it very often. ie, if you were just introduced to lets say the fibonachi sequence and how many things in life are based off of this equation, you suddenly start noticing things that are based off of the sequence in architecture very often.

So what i am getting at is that after hearing your daughters voice, or her mothers, or even laughs, you notice it easily. So basically, when you heard their voices in this crowd of people, subconsciosly your brain recognized something familiar even though consciously you did not notice it.

 

I have no doubt in my mind that this is exactly what happened.
