Why not put a forum in philosophy called
    Atheism vs. Theism.?

Any thread anywhere in religion, philosophy, or elsewhere that devolves into or has as its subject
    Atheism vs. Theism
    is moved to this forum.

Posters who begin to derail a thread into a discussion of atheism vs. theism can be warned that they are off topic (in other forums, of course).

Perhaps we will find out through this that there is little interest in dicussion of religion but just in trying to score points against the opponents.

Then the religious forum could gently be put to rest, whether it is reborn, turns into nothingness or lives happily in cyber heaven.....

On the other hand, then religion could be discussed without falling into the same deadlock.

Thats a good idea, its pretty difficult to have a discussion on religion without the athiests popping in to derail it. I had some good ones with lightgigantic when I first came here.

english law, and possibly a whole slew of others, is based on humans having a soul placed there by a god.

are you really willing to say "i'm nothing more than an animal?"

I KNEW I should have come to this one first. We just suggested similar things, Simon.

I wonder if anyone has done a study on lateral thinking and theism.

Its also called thinking outside the box. The kind of thinking that is difficult for those who need to see the dots with numbers to join them properly.

sorry had to poop back for this one.

Lateral thinking is also for those who see a mixture of symbols - dashes dots and commas - rather than just dots alone

dots dont need to be joined they can exist just as dots

Most humans are not capable of that kind of thinking, either of the examples given are beyond them. Such thinking is abnormal, thus outside of the box, and thus to be feared.

    1) I couldn't tell. Are you for my proposal or against it?
    2) my guess is you are assuming, for some reason, that I am an atheist.
    3) given that I am, however, a pagan, rather than a Christian or other monotheist, my answer will still be different on that latter question. You're perhaps never had a dog as a pet.

But most important, what do you think of having a theist vs. atheist section so that people interested in not having that sort of discussion, on occasion, can discuss religion without it appearing in every thread in the religion section?

i don't care where they go as long as i get to post my opinions on the matter at hand.

yes, i have. with all the human/ pet bonding attached.
i can say for certain an animal can't even approach the intellectual prowess of humans much less match it.

    Dear posters:

Much as I love your interest in lateral thinking and now animal souls I have started threads in Human Science and Religion, respectively, on these topics.
Please, really, jump in there and keep going.

I started a thread on this topic in Religion

When was the last time I saw myself do it?

But then, my dog could do calculas as well as anyone. Mastering the parabola of a ball is one thing, but the complicated curve of a frisbee as its spin slows and it slides to the side of it's original trajectory.....
    that is an accomplishment.

So, so far we have several people for it. Some who have expressed nothing against it.

    No objections, sciforums community?

When will the change take place?

It doesn't work like that, you should pass on your suggestion to Skinwalker and let him propose it, if he is agreeable. Even then, it may not be feasible to have a subforum that particularly invites people to fight it out.
