I am in the process of sending this to every organization that influences the policies of our nation I can. It is a letter saved on my computer. The first step is the hardest, but here it is.

    To whom it may concern:

As a citizen of the United States of America, I find myself in an awkward position. My patriotism cries foul at the eroding of our freedoms and our

leftist turn towards socialism. It also shudders at the thought of my beloved country torn asunder by revolution and civic unrest. I am afraid of what

appears to be coming, and the sense of developing desperation. Polarization of Ideals is coming to a head, which bodes poorly for our nation. My points are

    as follows.

    1. Premise

Who am I? I am a father. I am a construction electrician. I have managed people. I have benefited from help from my government. I am a liberal

christian. I am a peacetime veteran. I am not representing the thoughts or ideals of anyone else. None of this has been suggested to me by anything but my

own reasoning and observation of recent, current, and past events.

    2. Socialism and Democracy oppose each other

Socialism is an idealist thought. In the best circumstances, a benevolent elected government can dole out help without being invasive. Benevolence and

self-intrest are contradictory in observed human nature. Any elected official will act in their own self-interest, whether it be furthering amorphus ideals

of a perfect world, or remaining in a position of power. Thus, benevolence will not be found within an elected government. Lack of benevolence leads

inexorably to invasive government and reduction of freedom. This is unacceptable in the United States. Perhaps in a generation or two, the children of

today will have been taught to be docile and accept the government's rulings, despite their foulness. Right now, there is a vast divide. Consider our

recent political election. All races for all seats of importance were decided by less than fifty percent of the populace, and all came within ten percent

for majority, except a very few. While socialism has been voted into office, despite the denial of the name, there are many who dissent against it.

    3. National Economy woes

I am no world citizen, therefore, while I empathize with the plight of other nations, I concern myself with what exists here. A depressed economy will lead

to desperation on both sides. People who want their government to help the problems and be more involved in regulation, and those in favor of self-

regulation and Government as an emergency service only. These latter will blame the government for the economic problems. Desperation leads to desperate

acts. We look forward to, as stated before, civic unrest, domestic terrorism, and possibly revolution. It will be decided by how close to the middle of the

    road coming policies will be.

    4. Known policies that limit freedom

The patriot act is a sacrifice of privacy. It is easily abused by anyone in power, because the accusation of 'terrorist' is all it really takes to have

someone's privacy invaded further than normal. People turn a blind eye to such things in a time of war or fear. They want to feel 'safe'. Sadly, self-

defence and vigilance of the citizenry is unpopular. Personal responsibility is avoided. No one wants to be a snitch against their 'brother' these days,

even in the interest of the nation. Selfishness is a virtue, and luxury is laziness. As long as the government dole is handed out, most will sit back and

    accept any form of totalitarianism.

    5. Known promises that threaten freedom

Universal Health Care, Government Banking, Regulation of the free market, Free Education, Redistribution of Wealth. All of these things are strongly

socialist. As I stated previously, benevolent democratic socialism can not exist. Therefore, to enforce these things successfully, participation will have

to be compulsory. Only totalitarianism of some form can force the citizens into the appropriate segments to maintain such policy. Freedom of the press,

Freedom of Speech, and the right to bear arms, are most strongly threatened. Totalitarianism cannot tolerate dissenters.

    6. How can things be changed

The root of the problem, in my eyes, is that we have two political parties that vigh for power. This is a check and balance of government ideally, but

recent elections have shown otherwise. Moderate civic policy was ignored in favor of extremism, and Isolationist policy won the day as far as foreign policy

goes. Socialist domestic policy combined with isolationist foreign policy breeds totalitarian government. If the dissenters find themselves under a

microscope, violence will become inevitable out of desperation. Dissolution of both parties needs to come soon, and political policy handed over to the

moderate independent, or a third party of moderates from both sides needs to come to be. So long as a relative minority of citizens decide who leads the

country, there stands a strong chance of insurgency.

    7. Worst case scenarios

I know at what point I will openly support revolution and rebellion. I am but one voice among many, but the grumblings exist. The first point at which I

will move toward revolution, is the point where my personal freedom is removed in the interest of the government supplying "help". I stand to gain in the

short term from socialism. I don't want my children to inherit the problems it brings. So, while I stand to gain, I'd rather lose and be free, than gain

    and be oppressed.

The second point is any nationalization of private companies. Inefficiency is bred by nationalization, and placing the private sector into the government

purview. The standard of living in this country is largely decided by the "evils" of capitalism. Hard work is rewarded, more often than not. There is hope

for the man at the bottom to become them man at the top. Enforcing equality means capitalism must die, and with it dies the work ethic. Without a work

    ethic, hope dies as well.

The third point is any clamping down on nonviolent dissention. Any policy leading to the arrest of people for exercising their right to speech, to bear

arms, or to a free press must not be allowed to stand. This country was founded in direct opposition to such policies. 'Patriotic Taxation' is one thing.

No patriot will stand for destruction of liberty.

I have 3 points here, but don't seem to be extremist. I have just thought things through. I'm very tolerant of most things, but elimination of freedom,

even in the name of the 'greater good', simply stands in direct opposition to the things that so many have died for. I am a moderate patriot, and therefore

will even report this to the authorities, in hopes of shaking our leaders aware. I am but one voice, however, and cannot stand alone. If you read this and

agree, please share it on. If you read this and disagree, at least do your civic duty, for I threaten violence in the name of patriotism. If you support

big brother socialism, by all means, notify your local security forces. My name is Arthur Russell, and I act as a patriot.

That's me, draq, and action at this point would be foolhardy. Tipping the balance negatively. This is a warning of action, and will hopefully be enough.

I think it's a good letter, Ham, but had I written it, I would not have included the word "patriotism". Not because it's not a nice word, but because it would cause some "unworthy people" to automatically discard it without reading it.

Thanks, Max. I am acting as a patriot, they discard a patriotic warning at their own risk.

Why not just post a completed list after you have sent everyone a copy?

a completed list would be refuted, and I'm not sending it to many more agencies anyway, because the only central nerve system is the press. I also want people to know to whom I'm sending it, in case they want to mass send it themselves. Not to mention the possibility, though remote, of government reprisal.
