New movie called "Australia" being released

Even though his stories are not usually something typical of interest to me, I have always loved Baz Luhrmann for his visuals. His new film Australia is a period love story, but the beautiful cinematography immediately grabbed hold of my inner cinephile heart. That said, I’m not sure I’ll like this film as much as his previous efforts. Interesting bit of trivia, supposedly Heath Ledger was set to star in this film, but dropped out to play The Joker in The Dark Knight instead. Russell Crowe was also attached as the lead but left the movie during pre-production.

I've not seen anything by Baz that wasn't a quirky musical.
I plan on seeing this.

But you have not seen it yet have you? Then how do you know what it is like?

I was in Darwin during the filming and had a look on set the day Nicole Kidman had her backside slapped by an enthusisatic old timer, who called it an ausie welcome. She also got accidentally hit on the head by a pole by an errant extra. The other major set was in Bowen, Queensland Australia.
A few of my mates got extras parts and my brother in law played a bit role as an officer on the dock. By all accounts it is bush magic with heaps of post production, but we'll see. They're certainly promoting it too death on QANTAS. I suppose when Baz comes up with that sort of movie title, people's opinions will be polarised

lemmme guess, movie about Australia will have aborigenes, kingaroos, diamonds, criminals, and jellyfish.
