I need to update the game list of players, and I keep getting an error. Slave Escape Signup The administrator has specified that you can only edit messages for 2880 minutes after you have posted. This limit has expired, so you must contact the administrator to make alterations on your message.
lixluke, i warned you that was going to be a problem not having someone with mod powers over the game
yes, if you read the post where i said i had asked for a section where the person with mod powers could be constantly changed each game that was one of the reasons. There is a time limit to the edit funtion
OK. What is going on with the thread? Why isn't it allowing me to edit a post? Since when is there a 48hour limit on editing a post? It's not just about being a game, but all posts need to be editable by the whoever wrote/created the post.
i agree its galling to see broken links in my posts the story......some abused by deleting posts rendering threads incomprehensible the historical record was distorted instances however are few and far between responsible members are penalized unfairly i do see the pros and cons therefore... i promise not to do anything untoward allow me, to fix my shit screw the rest
Gustav take that up in plazma's thread i made a complaint about it a while ago because the easiest way to copy your own post with the same editing is to click the edit button and then copy it but when i went to do that to take a post from a thread i made in ethics i fell into the same problem. I asked plazma about it and he said he had no intention of changing it
You could probably search for the page, however the simplest reason for it's existence was for the integrity of the forum by lessening vandalism or manipulation of recorded discussion.
alternately, you two could have acknowledged ....... "it is as gustav said" ...then elaborate if warranted it is the responsible way to conduct oneself in a thread polite too /frown
outrageous when the edit function is "time stamped", how many possible explanations are there for the question "why"? can you not figure out the only logical answer for yourself? i mean, you build worlds from scratch, do you not? chaotic dystopian hellholes i would presume /snigger
Yes my words created by me, and therefore edited by me by ethics. Especially if a member feels like erasing all of his posts. A thread will be incomprehensible to whatever extent, but that is less imortant than members having the freedom to edit/delete any and however many posts they choose.
see here .... Thread closed at the request of the thread starter. the sentiment extends to posts as well once committed, all edits should preferably be accompanied by explanations the courteous way it is attitudes such as yours that got the privilege of unrestricted editing rescinded
one_raven actually you cant, you lose all the quotes when you do that and as the whole point of the post was to repost the related material i had quoted from other sources it didnt really help me. I had to either physically put the whole post back together or just link it
The attitude that one should be able to edit/delete 100% of his posts if he feels like it whether he has 10 ir 1,000? Attitude or not, people have to know in advance abt such rules before they post a single post in this form. People who have been here for years have posted freely on sciforums under the impression that they can edit/delete whatever it is they post. If one day a meber decides to leave this forum, they might feel like deleting everything they ever posted. Even if they have 10,000 posts, to impose limits to do so is wrong. Aside from ethics, what about practicality? Whatever benefits there may be for limiting post editing, the drawbacks are apparant.
lixluke actually thats exactly the reason your NOT alowed to edit, delete after a certain time. To stop people from deleting all there posts and leaving discussions in compleatly ruined
