Thankyou!
You know there is something I've noticed we've never done here and it's probably about time it was done but I thought I would do this since it's something the Administration should perhaps have done a long time ago but was perhaps a small oversight on their own part.
Thank You!
too all the members of this forum for your constant input and posting. While some of your post sometimes might be quite inane, or might be scolded for their language or deviant intent. A majority of you call this as your home as a place on the internet. We've had our laughs and we've shed lots of tears of the years and I hope that no matter the climate or problems are suffered you Guys and Girls will keep posting.
I especially thank those Academics that have spent their free time trying to correct the young, old and infirm in regards to bizarre theories, notions or otherwise quackery which can be expected to raise it's head on a Science forum. Without you their would be no "Ground Control calling Major Tom".
Thanks to all the aspiring wannabe theorists, hobbiest, convertors of faith amongst other things. Without your insights there would be little subject for scientists to debunk or ridicule
Thank You also, to those that have shared their concerns about this forum, without your vocalised support everybody probably would of packed up and called it a day a long time ago. With your concerns being well written and observed, I'm sure great changes can be made that aren't just beneficial to the site but to the users which supplied the ideas, so please keep them coming. (If not to the Feedback forum bombard my PM box)
Please Pat yourselves on the back, buy yourself a round at the bar and raise a toast to what I hope will be a surprising future.

Between March and May 2001 (Obviously Porfiry would actually know).
Originally David Watanabe (Porfiry) ran Exosci.com as a kind of Blog for Exosciences (Astronomy/Space etc), he converted during those months to be a forum. (Later he went on to do his programming projects [NewsFire,Inquisitor,Acquisition] and other assorted real life stuff, in fact I'm suprised he doesn't have a Wikipedia article all to himself.)
A Year prior to the current Owners taking over Porfiry couldn't deal with the forum anymore, the software fell out of date, there were constant downtimes due to lack of maintenance and Porfiry lost his initial interest because he was busy with his new lavish programming lifestyle. (Okay he'll probably tell me to Strike lavish if he ever reads here still.)
He made the decision to sellout, not for profit (although I could be wrong) but because the costs were reaching astronomical highs to maintain as well as he no longer had the time to devote to the forums himself. (Shame that :,( )
Along came Pseudo and Zox, and well they purchased the site and got Plazma to do the "Maintaining" (Which is a little different from "Development")
So there would be two Anniversaries, It's inception and it's Rebirth, Fingers crossed for a "Resurrection" date (I don't want to start the First Church of Sciforums, Takes me back to trying to Aid Dan Harris-Warwick's "First Church of Wintermute" back in the day but thats another story altogether. (And no it's not a real religion, it was based upon the A.I. Wintermute from the William Gibson Novel "Neuromancer".)

I'm not entirely sure, however I'm sure if someone made an offer and it was laced with beer, Porfiry likely took it. The site at the time was eating over $1000 Dollars a year. (To be honest I think that was Canadian, however Porfiry was over in Australia at the time so it could of been Australian Dollars)
Advertisements weren't covering the Bandwidth usage, Software renewal fees. At one point the forums actually took donations to pay for itself, obviously a lot of questions were raised by the members back then on how much beer Porfiry was spending it on.
I'm sure some information could be found by a search either in the archives, archive.org or some other location not mentioned here.

This was the first thing that popped into my head when I read it.
Is it just a coincidence that this "Thank You" is coming right in the middle
of a big shit storm?
Do the other mods share in your heart felt Thank You? Just wondering because it was just the other day that Ben The Man referred to us as "YOU PEOPLE" are not all treated equally and it would be a "WET DREAM" if most of you just stopped posting and went away.
BTW: For the record I have always found you pretty fair as a Mod, but I still wonder why the big THANKS all of a sudden.Last edited by shorty_37; 10-18-08 at 06:15 PM.

Thank you too, Stryder, that's very very humble of you. Thanks again for providing this place in the first place so that I can meet many interesting posters and read/discuss many interesting topics. You are doing great jobs!

My "Thank you" was before I even caught up with the whole "Storm" which to me is more "in a teacup".
The Thank You was because I realise that on this forum we've neglected to positively thank those that participate and to encourage a better atmosphere for future discussion. Instead it's always been slurred with a spiral of complaints and Ad Hominem's that just make more complaints.
I can only but try to deal with complaints and of course stop offenders from continually causing trouble here, but while I'm doing that there are some very decent members that have posted through thick and thin. No matter the deluge of stinkiness from the most vilest of offenders, those posters managed to brush it all off and continue to maintain a certain amount of civility.
I just wanted them to know that their efforts were not in vain.
Hopefully in the future we'll be able to do more than just reward you (the Members) with thanks.

Err, I don't know how to answer that one.
Lets see:
taking nakey pics of people without there permission =
Taking them with there permission could get you both classed as perverts.
Perhaps it would more likely be a draw for a years subscription to an Encyclopaedia etc. I know, I know, not as fun as the first, but you can hardly be called a pervert for having an Encyclopaedia.)
