On this site it's written that it's possible to get more results (with the API or by screenscraping) in Google by varying the "advanced search" options and then splicing the resultant results pages.

What does splicing the search results mean?

I would gather it would mean sticking together more than one Search Query. e.g. running multiple searches and Splicing the results together as one result.

Stryder is exactly right. Splicing, in this case, just means combining them all into one big result.
