Among hte many things that would happen if an asteroid were to hit us are fire, rocks, and even acid rain. But what I want to know is how could an asteroid cause radiation.

They say that an asteroid can't explain the Tunguska event cause an asteroid wouldn't create that high of a level of radiation.

Not likely due to age and decay.

The radiation story may stem from the fact that meteorites may contain isotopes; and that most people confusingly associate isotopes with radiation.
Or, that certain foreign government departments sometimes use it as a cover story to stop people from finding and selling newly fallen meteorites.

Well it is possible that some of that energy releases in a comet-asteroid impact turns into radiation.
