hate the USA? Is it the have/have-not situation, or because of different wars we've won, or what we stand for? What is it? I can't really figure it out, and i see this in books, tv, movies, etc, fiction yeah, but i'm sure its based on truth.

Why is the USA hated? Non-USA citizen feedback appreciated, encouraged!

I would tend to agree with Adam. We became top dog after we saved everyone's ass in world war two, as did the russians, at least for most of the 20th century.

I despise America for a few reasons.

I hate the genearl theistic beliefs in America. I hate the ignorance most Americans I have enoucntered have about the world outside their whole. I hate being called racist things every time I go there to play a game. I hate the oversensitizing that America has created (fight against pornography, stupid idiots who blame video gams and music for violence instead of realizing that the parents are the problem). I hate Republicans. I hate Ross Perot. I hate Jerry Falwell and Pat Buchanan and any one who takes them seriously in the least. I hate certain actions America takes to better itself at the expense of other nations. I hate American education system. I hate how the American system refuses to teach it's children about the Nazi's and fascists it put in power to help destroy the will of a nation. I hate seeing American tourists in nations I've been to go up to a local and ask them a question in English. I hate how Americans consider it them winning the Stanley Cup when each year the team has 12 Canadians, 6 Russians, 2 Swedes and a Czech.

America, as far as superpowers go, has been pretty decent. But that does not excuse the fact that the U.S. has done some easily avoidable bad things.

Er, firstoff, we had to be dragged into that war. We were perfectly okay with letting the Japs overrun Asia and the Nazis overrun Europe.

Secondly, if the Brits had not held out the way they did, the European theatre would have been lost.

Third, we'd have all been fucked if it was not for the Rooskys.

    Tyler:

You mean the beliefs shared by most of the world? How many people in the world are athiests, really and truely?

Yeah well I don't fucking like it OR the repugs either!

So you blame the parents instead of video games? How much more responsible is that?

Show me one nation, ONE, that would not have done the same or worse.

And who bought the Canadians, Russians and Swedes?

Won't argue there, but I do wonder if you could show me a nation that would have done better?

Edit to remove nasty comment about the Leafs.

Point number one against America! Hehe

"You mean the beliefs shared by most of the world? How many people in the world are athiests, really and truely?"

Majority of first-world nations with high technological advancement are significantly less religion-oriented than America.

"So you blame the parents instead of video games? How much more responsible is that?"

Much more. It is the responsibility of a parent to teach a child the difference between reality and illusion. Not the responsibility of music, videogames or even school. I was talking about violence in teens, I think I forgot to mention that.

"Show me one nation, ONE, that would not have done the same or worse."

Okey dokey. Canada. Sweden. Norway. Denmark. Want more?

"Oooh, you leave my Wings alone.
You're jealous 'cuz we won it three times this decade and the Leafs haven't one since the late Devonain.
And who bought the Canadians, Russians and Swedes?"

Well, yes, I am jealous! But the only proud American on your team who contributed largely was Brett Hull. And he's Canadian!!

"Won't argue there, but I do wonder if you could show me a nation that would have done better?"

Well Canada for one. Sweden. Norway....
    Generally less right-wing nations.

So do I. These bastards move to America, get paid millions of American dollars, savor the glory they get from the "hometown" fans and enjoy the American lifestyles and freedoms that other Americans enjoy - just before they decide to call themselves Russians, Czechs, Swedes or whatever and go back "home" to play for "their" country.

If they weren't allowed to take American money with them would they forfeit their original citizenship and declare themselves Americans - and play for America? I think so ...

You're right Eman. Just like all those soccer players shouldn't have any pride in their nation of origin. I mean, it's not like that's the country that supoprted them all through youth, raised them and gave them the oppurtunity to play the game throughout their life.

You guys want to pay them all the money, go right ahead. Don't blame them if they still don't call themselves Americans.

Oh, and you Canucks really distinguished yourself by trying to prevent it.

"Majority of first-world nations with high technological advancement are significantly less religion-oriented than America."

Yeah, but they haven't been overrun by the fishies, and they have better educational systems.

    'Cept Japan, of course.

You can say "Papua New Gueane" for all I care, those aren't exactly world powers.

How could you know how they would act?

"Well, yes, I am jealous! But the only proud American on your team who contributed largely was Brett Hull. And he's Canadian!!"

So you would turn down a chance to have Olaughson play for the Leafs, just 'cuz he is Swedish? Or Federov because he's Roosky?

Like fuck you would. You can't deny our team that victory unless you're willing to have only Canucks play for the Leafs.

And I am not going to comment on how that might affect your chances of winning....hehe.

"Well Canada for one. Sweden. Norway....
    Generally less right-wing nations."

Maybe, maybe not. How would you know?

A Canadian team will never win the Stanley Cup again. So sayeth Q.

Why ? They can't afford it.

"Oh, and you Canucks really distinguished yourself by trying to prevent it."

No, we didn't. And it's point number one against Canada. However, for the pathetic military nation that we are, we contributed largely to the War effort in WWII and especially in WWI.

"Yeah, but they haven't been overrun by the fishies, and they have better educational systems.
    'Cept Japan, of course"

You're right. Those nations are better. Haven't been overrun by fishies? I don't believe you're thinking straight here hun. You ask me what nations are significantly less religious. I gave you some. You then said 'yeah, well, they don't have religious people!' I don't follow at all. The point is that these nations have less religious people.

"How does reality and illusion enter into it?"

Americans have complained that video games give illusions concerning the affects of violence (after all, it's not like a 16 year old can figure out that shooting someone in the head kills them) and that music such as Manson gives them illusions concerning the value of life and the difference between right and wrong. To me, the illusion is that music and video games should be held responsible for the actions of kids and the reality is that parents should learn how to raise children.

"You can say "Papua New Gueane" for all I care, those aren't exactly world powers."

No, they aren't. What I am against is the major right-wing choices America has made. Are you suggesting that it's impossible for a superpower to be left wing or centre?

"So you would turn down a chance to have Olaughson play for the Leafs, just 'cuz he is Swedish? Or Federov because he's Roosky?"

Of course I wouldn't! But, um, there'd still be 12 Canadians. So I'd still be pretty accurate in saying a Canadian team won the Cup! The only team I will call 'American' that's won the Cup in the last few decades is New Jersey. The Devils were a team that was able to win through intense desire (by Canadians, Alex Mogilny and Scott Gomez) and excellent management. Even though the management was mainly Canadian, they did not use the typical modern approach to winning the Cup of 'Spend as much as you can! Buy me a Cup!'

"And I am not going to comment on how that might affect your chances of winning....hehe."

Right, cause we Canucks such at teh game!

"Maybe, maybe not. How would you know?"

You think a laid-back, left wing nation like Canada would have put Popadopolous in power? Or any of the other Nazis?

The Leafs can. Unfortunatly, they don't want to. Leaf management has this theory; spend just enough to not look cheap but not too much that we contend for the Cup.

    Education wise. Hmph!

Sorry baby, I wasn't thinking straight. Or I wasn't explaining my thinking straight.

Japan got rid of the fishies early on, bless their perverted, hentai-playing little hearts.

    Europe outgrew its fishies.

But America started with a lot of fishies. We were overrun in the beginning of our history, unlike Japan, and haven't had time to outgrow it, like Europe has.

    That's what I meant.

    Does that make sense?

"Americans have complained that video games give illusions concerning the affects of violence (after all, it's not like a 16 year old can figure out that shooting someone in the head kills them) and that music such as Manson gives them illusions concerning the value of life and the difference between right and wrong. To me, the illusion is that music and video games should be held responsible for the actions of kids and the reality is that parents should learn how to raise children."

But that assumes that the little fuckwits are right about the illusions concerning violence.

I think that's utter bull. I'd bet money that violent people would flock to violent music and video games.

And, many Americans recognize that for the lie it is, especially the Americans under thirty. Ironically, it's often the right that protests the suing of Nintendo the most.

We ain't all stupid, baby. It's just that the stupid Americans get the most publicity.

"No, they aren't. What I am against is the major right-wing choices America has made. Are you suggesting that it's impossible for a superpower to be left wing or centre?"

I don't know. Funny, even the USSR was rather right wing in its actions, if not in its ideals. And look at how China is abandoning communism as it becomes a larger superpower.

"You think a laid-back, left wing nation like Canada would have put Popadopolous in power? Or any of the other Nazis?"

I'm sorry, I can't imagine Canada putting anyone in power.

You know, I think Australia could do a decent job in the role we choose during the Cold War and after. But I also think they'd do about the same as we did.

Not that Australia is very left wing.

As for the Wings, ye are right. The Americans did not win the Stanley - the Wings did.

And I don't remember anyone claiming that the Stanley was an American victory.

Besides, too few Americans care about hockey, and really, Canada and America are the only nations that ever really contend for Stanley.

    So I don't think it's very relevent.

Sure it makes sense. It's just not relevant. Americans still choose to be very theistic. A minus to America in my eyes.

Besides, America and Europe have had just as much time to outgrow fishies. The early settlers were European, no? So then you have group of Euros in AREA A that outgrow the stupidity and a group of Euroes in AREA B that don't. Understand?

"But that assumes that the little fuckwits are right about the illusions concerning violence.

Oh I realize this. It's just one of the things I despise in American culture. The only other nation I remember hearing having something along these lines was Germany. One Manson thing, I bleieve it was. Interesting thing I see is that so many other nations like Canada and Norway and Sweden have children exposed to the exact same music and video games, yet we have much lower teen violence.

"I don't know. Funny, even the USSR was rather right wing in its actions, if not in its ideals. And look at how China is abandoning communism as it becomes a larger superpower."

The USSR under Stalin was not left wing. China abandons the left becuase, like the USSR, it is no longer set in ideology. I maintain my question, is it impossible for a super-power to become more left wing or centre?

"I'm sorry, I can't imagine Canada putting anyone in power."

Exactly. Too laid back. Too left wing. Too realistic to be so uptight. You guys need the cold!

"Besides, too few Americans care about hockey, and really, Canada and America are the only nations that ever really contend for Stanley."

There have been media cases in the States of the tv stations or newspapers going on about how America is winning the Stanley Cup so much in what is apparently Canada's game. Believe me. When Americans put down our nation, we have our own media to whine about it.

And no, it's not relevant. It's just somethign I hate!

    Now, off to run...

I heard they raised the price of tickets next year from $150.00 CDN to $165.00 CDN ( that's about 2 bucks US) just to pay out Pat Quinn. Will Rick Lee take his place ? Oh, the horror, the horror, the horror...

Cujo has got to go. His time is over. Same for Tucker, what a moron. And what is Domi still doing playing hockey ?

On American education? Don't bother, we'd end up agreeing again.

I actually think it's superior in some ways to the Jap system, which stifles creativity in my eyes. Buuut, only relatively.

"Americans still choose to be very theistic. A minus to America in my eyes."

Is this a minus to America or a minus to human nature?

Or maybe you Canucks all arrived at non-theism because of your rigorous skepticism, and not because religion is simply not very important in your culture.

"Besides, America and Europe have had just as much time to outgrow fishies. The early settlers were European, no? So then you have group of Euros in AREA A that outgrow the stupidity and a group of Euroes in AREA B that don't."

Eh, but baby, we started out with the bloody Pilgrims and Quakers and various other morons who emigrated for religious reasons.

Not a good cross-section of European society.

    "Understand?"

    Yeah, but you're still wrong.

"Oh I realize this. It's just one of the things I despise in American culture. The only other nation I remember hearing having something along these lines was Germany. "

Yes, some fuckwit claimed that Manson inspired a school shooting. It's funny, because I actually won a bet on whether they would blame Manson or video games.*

"The USSR under Stalin was not left wing. China abandons the left becuase, like the USSR, it is no longer set in ideology."

What I said......[Insert string of emoticons expressing incredulity at Tyler's impressonent-ness]

"I maintain my question, is it impossible for a super-power to become more left wing or centre"

To become? No. But I think that superpowers will embrace the right, which so easily lends itself to the accumulation of power, in their formative stages.

"There have been media cases in the States of the tv stations or newspapers going on about how America is winning the Stanley Cup so much in what is apparently Canada's game."

Well, Canada is the land of hockey.

But yeah, that's damned asinine. Ain't the way the fans I talk to veiw things.

We ain't all as stupid as we look.

"On American education? Don't bother, we'd end up agreeing again"

Actually, on education being the only thing that makes those countries better than America!

"Is this a minus to America or a minus to human nature?"

America. I fail to see how it relates to human nature. America didn't want another World War (neither did any other nation but Germany/Soviets). They valued no dead Americans over death to all Jews.

"Eh, but baby, we started out with the bloody Pilgrims and Quakers and various other morons who emigrated for religious reasons.
Not a good cross-section of European society."

Granted. I maintain my side though. Religion did not begin to deteriorate seriously in Europe until America was well into being a country. And atheism really didn't become big until what, 150 years ago or so (please correct me here)? America was well into being a nation then. So they've had the same amount of time to let atheism flourish. And nowadays I think you'll agree there's no excuse for rampant theism.

"Yes, some fuckwit claimed that Manson inspired a school shooting. It's funny, because I actually won a bet on whether they would blame Manson or video games"

One of the shootings a few years back the parents of the assaulters claimed Slipknot was the reason their kids did the attack. I think these people are one of the biggest things wrong with society.

"What I said......[Insert string of emoticons expressing incredulity at Tyler's impressonent-ness]"

Sorry! That was stupid of me to say! Okay, having rethought your original comment...... USSR and China are poor examples to use. You're taking an ideology already extreme and pointing out that it will never result in central politics. Well duh! If we're talking something like Denmark or Canada, we're talking nations starting off as slightly left wing to centre. Big difference!

"To become? No. But I think that superpowers will embrace the right, which so easily lends itself to the accumulation of power, in their formative stages."

Or is it that only right wing nations can become superpowers?

"Well, Canada is the land of hockey.
But yeah, that's damned asinine. Ain't the way the fans I talk to veiw things."

That's okay. Gretz got back with the whole 'They hate us' comment during the Olympics!

"Edit to add that the US isn't the only place with problems with personal responsibility:"

People are too easily offended. People are stupid and pussies.

About 'Blame Canada'. Funny song. Robin Williams doing it was even better. A couple right wingers over here got a little pissy about it. That was about it.
