Teach me science. I want to be able to impress people with my scientific knowledge but I don’t know anything apart a couple of chemical elements and that. The way I see this working is - I post questions such as “What is quantum physics” and you lot respond with brief, easy to understand answers that don’t contain any big words or any scientific jargon or any links to 30 page long scientific journals that I'm too stupid to understand.

So let’s begin….what is quantum physics? (I know this should be in the physics section but I have lots of other questions that don't relate just to physics).

Is it? Does that mean you're still willing to teach me science or not?

Quantum physics is a branch of science that deals with discrete, indivisible units of energy called quanta as described by the Quantum Theory. There are five main ideas represented in Quantum Theory:

Energy is not continuous, but comes in small but discrete units.
The elementary particles behave both like particles and like waves.
The movement of these particles is inherently random.
It is physically impossible to know both the position and the momentum of a particle at the same time. The more precisely one is known, the less precise the measurement of the other is.
The atomic world is nothing like the world we live in.

While at a glance this may seem like just another strange theory, it contains many clues as to the fundamental nature of the universe and is more important then even relativity in the grand scheme of things (if any one thing at that level could be said to be more important then anything else). Furthermore, it describes the nature of the universe as being much different then the world we see. As Niels Bohr said, "Anyone who is not shocked by quantum theory has not understood it."

I don't think your approach is going to work to well Dolly. I don't know much about science either, which is why I joined this forum, so I could learn more about it. But I don't think that coming here and saying "teach me" is acceptable. I think you are better off trying to teach yourself b maybe reading a wiki article or a book, and then coming here with questions you have about something you didn't understand, or would like to explore further, or would like to discuss. I think coming here and saying "teach me" is kind of lazy. Do you always expect people to cater to your needs?

The study of how really, really small things behave. Next question.

That's not saying much. I'm surprised the moderator hasn't closed this thread for being a trollfest.

I would be surprised if old Dolly wasn't banned for being a sock puppet.
