Following discussions in another thread I was left wondering how best to measure a good mind. Be that in intelligence, compassion, rational thinking, whatever. What is a good mind? Is it simply a dizzying intellect, or are other factors important such as reason and foresight? Do we measure the value of people on a limited spectrum in our society? Have we become so drunk with our own cleverness we've forgotten about other imperative qualities such as love and compassion? What is wisdom and does that differ from intelligence?

I once heard the measure of a good mind was knowing what questions to ask. Is it?

I'd think that in order to have wisdom you would need intelliigence for without the knowledge of something how can you become wise about it? Reading, listening and knowing when to ask good questions all would be a make up of a "good mind".

A balanced mind is a good mind. Of course there is a minimum value of the various factors for a balanced mind to qualify is 'a good mind'.

Isn't being wise, thus having wisdom, not just being very knowledgeable and knowing how to utilize that knowledge ?

Intelligence implies this ability to apply knowledge, but doesn't necessarily include knowledge itself.

Hmm are you suggesting that wisdom is synonymous with morality ?
