No, really: you wish. As in: choose one.

    ***

Conspiracies and myths: we all love them, even if we hate them. There's something about the human psyche that wants so desperately to believe they're real, as if Daddy Gov'mint really, really did actually know what the hell was really going on, because then we could all sleep easier knowing that everything was going to plan: perhaps a horrible, twisted plan, but still a plan.

On the other side of the same psychological fear-of-the-dark: myths. Monsters. Boogeymen. Aliens, their eyes bright and anal probes dripping. Whichever. Perversely, we like them too (perhaps not so much the probing) because they're the part of the world that remains safely unknown: a final shadow of the enspellingly fantastical that resists the light, giving us the hope that this withering world isn't all there is.

So, simple question: If you could have one fantastical myth or conspiracy theory actually be true - which would it be? [Restriction: it can't be one you already believe in. I'm looking at you, Ganymede.]

Me? What one would I choose? Thanks so much for asking! *hugs!* I'll take the Loch Ness monster, by thunder.

Because I've always admired other large, intelligent reptiles brought to Earth by extraterrestrials.

God and Satan and the little baby Jesus and all the angels, please. Failing that, can I have something with a bad temper and big teeth?

Hmm...everyone jumps on the conspiracy thread. Lizards that radically overhaul our conception of evolution? Meh.

I'll have to stick with my strengths.

I also vote for Bigfoot! Because you could look at hairs from his footprints for DNA. Sweet. That's hard to beat. Also, it has a bad temper and big teeth, like Prince Charles or Tom Baker.

Maybe all the conspiracies and truths we are being told today are just a coverup leading us further and further away from the real truth

Or maybe the truth doesn't exist.. it would be the biggest cover up of all.
