How did you find Sciforums, and why did you decide to post here?

I've been a member for about seven years now on a website that I pay to access that is based on following UT football, and within that forum there is a political board. Years ago one of the more esteemed posters mentioned Sciforums as a site where he had found many knowledgeable posters with which to debate religion and philosophy. Out of curiosity I followed his link, and within a few hours of reading I had created an account and begun to post. Initially I was drawn here by the prospect of learning more about atheism, but eventually found that I wasn't really as interested in that particular topic as I was the perceptions of the U.S. by posters from other countries, and that's probably the main reason I decided to wade in and try to have my say.

So, how did you find this place, and what made you want to start posting?

    Thanks.

I found it through Nietzschefan ( a member ) I used to wonder what the hell he was always reading. Then he would start laughing sometimes, and I would ask what was so damn funny. Usually it was something posted by Baron Max. Then he used to say stuff like I can't beleive this stupid idiot. Hmmmmm again peeked my interest. That is when I started reading what Sandy was posting. I actually couldn't beleive the stuff that he/she was saying.

So one day while Nietzschefan was at work, I was bored and made myself an account.

That is how you ended up with me

I Googled some damn thing or another in 2002 while researching a paper and found this place. Overclockers.com had a political forum, and I'd gotten in the habit of posting my opinions on subjects there. But the mods there shut down the political discussion subforum because of the flaming that inevitably ensued. The invasion of Iraq finally sunk it. I mentioned to several of the members there that I'd found this place. A number of them joined, but I'm the only active poster left out of the lot.

I searched something on Google (can't recall as to what it was), and surprisingly, a (blatantly) racist thread on Sciforums was a result. I was interested, so I clicked and read the thread. I then checked to see if it was an active forum with regular posters, and noticed many of the heated political and religious sections, so I decided to join.
