I assume there has to be at least 2 other people just to make sure the person actually doing the voting doesn't cheat the blind.

But there goes the privacy of the blind person's vote....

The ever-so-helpful Karl Rove goes into the booth and assists them with their voting.

Actually, that is a rather stupid and incorrect answer. My assumption is that there are at least 2 other persons present, the voter's choices are read, and he/she makes the choice and the other 2 persons (executors) push the buttons or write in the vote for him/her.

At least that's how I would make it...Kind of works for any disabled person, not just for blinds....

I had a job where I had to assist blind people operate the "telenet" it was bascially getting information from the net, through your telephone(This was way back in 1999). Things like weather reports, resteraunt recommendations, news, etc. And I got tell you, they were much more perceptive then one could imagine. I use to trip out talking to them, seeing how they explained, and perceived things was nothing short of amazing. So It would surprise me to say the least, if they weren't fully aware of who, and what they were voting for inside the booth. IMO the average blind person is more inelligent then a non visually impaired person.

It would be dangerous, though, if there were two other people or another person present because they could simply choose their own thing and the blind person wouldn't know; they could take advantage of the blind person's vote.

why (epecially in the US where they use computer screens) isnt brail and audio used?

It would seem easy to read out the infomation through a set of head phones for them and then they type on a brail keyboard

As for places like australia with paper sheats they could be brail as well
