I got myself stored on a disk: Human DNA that is actually used is 45MB of data

    Apparently human dna uses only 3% of the data on it...the rest is there as junk to prevent mutations and other problems...furthermore these 3% used are just 45MB of data!

    So I need to make a backup of myself than on 45 floppy disks.

    Are you kidding? Who uses CDs anymore? You could fit 1,000 genomes on a single double layered BluRay (45 GB, as opposed to 700 MB).

    w00t, lets all burn ourselves onto CD's and keep them in a time capsule, see ya in 2500 A.D. ..

    I figure...lets live our lives and when we are like totally old we burn ourselves on a CD so that in future perhaps they will run us as software

    They can't completely duplicate your genome, I think. I think there are huge sections of satellite DNA around the centromeres and end repeats that are impossible to read using the shotgun method.

    I imagine the computing power to make that DNA legible would be enormous.
