Someone in the Asperger's thread said that there was an opposite disorder to ASD where a person has what is essentially an 'extreme female mind'. How does that work and what would be the symptoms of such a disorder? Would they be obsessed with empathizing and communicating?

I figured they were the extremely flamboyant gay men. The ones who are more feminine than women.
But I have no clue. I've never heard it before til here.

Neither had I...but I suppose it stands to reason that if you can have an extreme male mind, you can have an extreme female one.

Does this imply that Asperger's is an "extreme male mind"? If so, I do not agree with it at all -- AS greatly exaggerates some mental traits usually associated with men, but by no means all or even most of them. In fact, I would say that some stereotypical male mental traits are depressed in Aspies (decisiveness and desire to take charge, for example).

Yeah, and some ASD males are highly empathetic...

I think the point is that an ASD mind is a hyper-systemizing one...

so an extreme female mind would be a hyper-empathizing one...

I'd like to know how that would manifest though - would they, for example, be hypersocial or overly upset when they saw someone else having a minor problem?
