No i don't believe the Jew celebrated birthdays, So not they would not have celebrated the birth date of Jesus. All Praise The Ancient Of Days
According to history the two replies are correct. The Jews veiwed birth days as a form of Idol worship. "The notion of a birthday festival was far from the ideas of the Christians of this period in General."- The History of the Christian Religion and Church, During the Three First Centuries (New york, 1848) "The later Hebews looked on the celebration of birthdays as a part of idolatrous worship, a view which would be abundantly confirmed by what they saw of the common observances associated with these days." - The Imperial Bible-Dictionary (London, 1874) Which is also refering to the two refrences of birthday celebration which was both pagan observances, Pharaoh and Herod. In both cases a person died. There is no reference to any Hebrew or Christian observing a birthday in the bible.
