    Hello,

I have a new laptop, and my existing desktop. I wish to connect these simultaneously to the internet (I currently have an Ethernet connection). I'm thinking of buying a wireless router, but I have a few questions:

    1) Will a wireless router allow me to connect the laptop and desktop to each other as well? I shall need to sync data between the two from time to time...

    2) My ISP has provided me with an IP address, Gateway etc. I understand that I will need to provide these to my router instead of my desktop or laptop. Is this correct? Are there tools/software that will allow me to do this. I run windows Vista on the laptop, and dual-boot windows XP and Linux (Kubuntu) on my desktop.

    3) My ISP also has a login client. Will this login client work correctly through the wireless router?

    4) Will I essentially be creating a sub-network of my own, with the wireless router acting as my gateway ?

    Thanks in advance!
