For the life of me I can't understand how the U.S Government can allow the worlds most wanted Terrorist to air his so-called propaganda acorss the U.S airwaves?

Any evidence found from this terrorist should be classified and used as evidence for his pending prosecution. The U.S media is providing aid and comfort to this terrorist by giving him free publicity to incitie extremists and spread his poisonous message. Corporate advestisers have to pay millions of dollars for that amount of airtime to "sell their product". But the U.S media is giving the most feared, the most wanted terrorist, free airtime to fuel his bloody Jihad. And by him requesting that Europe removes it's forces, will only empower the war-mongers who will use this video to justify more pre-emptive strikes in oil rich Arab nations.

Bin Laden does nothing to assist the anti-war movement, everything he says goes against everything the anti-war movment is trying to accomplish. When he threatens to kill innocent civilians with dirty bombs, he's only bringing more hate and resentment towrads the very people(Muslims) he claims to be fighting for.

Nothing he says or does, benefits any of his people, it only justifies the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians in our attempt to "kill the evil doers".

In my humble opinion, If Bin Laden's messages promoted peace, love & brotherhood, they would never see the light of day in the American news media. They will only air the vitriolic propaganda that serves the interest of the military indusrtial complex, and the influential energy executives.

I can't believe how many people can buy in to this bullshit.

I think you answered your own question. Why would Bin Laden want there to be no war? He was losing popularity until the US invaded Iraq. He loves to see the US kill innocent Muslims because it helps his recruiting.

But it's not benefiting the Muslim people. Each and every new tape will only bring more hardship against his people. That's not the actions of a freedom fighter. He's only increasing the amount of Muslim civilians who will be put in harms way. And if we're fighting a war on terror, then why are giving free airtime to Bin Laden to recruit more terrorists?

What makes you think that helping Muslims is one of Bin Laden's priorities (or even interests)?

Why would you imagine him to be a freedom fighter?

The stuff is going to be broadcast, in Arabic, on Al Jazeera and numerous other stations around the world, and be distributed on the internet. Whether it's reported in the West has little impact, although not reporting it would deprive us of knowledge of what is going on.

Of course, we all know that the real reason you're pissed about his latest statements is that he explicitly claims sole responsibility for organizing the 9/11 attacks.

Because he's on a Jihad maybe you should look it up.

He's a terrorist in my eyes, but a freedom fighter in the eyes of his followers. Why should i have to explain such elementry terms to you?

Bullshit, the footage of civilian deaths shown on Al Jeezera never make it into the American media. Lets use the movie "Redacted" as an example. Where Mark Cuban refused to include the horrific images of actual civilian deaths in the final cut of the film. This was due to the immense pressure being put on him by the Pentagon.

    The F.B.I thinks otherwise.

Usama Bin Laden is wanted in connection with the August 7, 1998, bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. These attacks killed over 200 people. In addition, Bin Laden is a suspect in other terrorist attacks throughout the world.

Oh noes, the F.B.I hasn't even charged him with the crime of 911, so please stick to the facts. Bin Laden is a terrorist who needs to hanged drawn and quarterd. So I'm glad we agree on something.

Why does his message bring hardship on Muslims? Because of our own actions, not his. He is seen as a Robin Hood figure. Anything we do militarily only strengthens his position, increases his recruiting (however it's probably not even him in control anymore). He is not looking to simply decrease the percieved suffering of Muslims, but eliminate it entirely. Dying for the cause is seen as holy and guarantees a sure place in heaven.

For our part, Bush loves the Bin Laden messages because it strikes fear into the cowardly, who are his base.

Freedom of the press is the reason we hear Bin Laden's message. And I wouldn't want it any other way. A free press is fundamental to the workings of a democracy, where the populace can learn the truth from independent sources. Besides, bad news always sells better than good news. More money in it for the press corps.

Then how is it really a free press if the basis for giving Americans news is whatever story will make them more money, while they remove or fail to report stories that will hurt their interests? Thats not a free press.

Well, the same could be said about our elections. What's so "free" about elections where the only candidates with any chance of winning are the ones with the most money and are either Democrat or Republican? Obviously, ours is not a perfect democracy. We should appoint representatives to Congress on a random basis - just like in ancient Greece. As for the press and money, the money for the press has to come from somewhere. Either it comes from the government or it comes from advertising. I'll take advertising over big brother government.

Jihad does not inherently imply that improving the situation of Muslims in general is a priority. More pertinently, Bin Laden's definition of who is a "true" Muslim is probably quite different than the generally accepted notions. Specifically, it excludes people who aren't engaged in Jihad against the Crusaders, so it kind of misses the point to criticize him for provoking the West. In his worldview, engaging in violent conflict with America is a good thing for Muslims, so he's not working against their interests, as he defines them, at all.

Because you apparently don't understand how to employ them correctly. Anyway, the same critique as above applies: freedom fighters are, by definition, more interested in pursuing warfare (presumably leading to ultimate victory) than in marginal improvements in the daily lives of their claimed constituencies.

    So what?

An American war movie is not a very good example of Al Qaeda propaganda. What does any of this have to do with Al Qaeda tapes?

Does the Sibel Edmonds case ring a bell? Here's the first example that proves your assertion is false.

Attention CBS 60 Minutes: we've got a huge scoop for you. If you want it.

Remember the exclusive story you aired on Sibel Edmonds, originally on October 27th, 2002, when she was not allowed to tell you everything that she heard while serving as an FBI translator after 9/11 because she was gagged by the rarely-invoked "States Secret Privilege"? Well, she's still gagged. In fact, as the ACLU first described her, she's "the most gagged person in the history of the United States of America."

But if you'll sit down and talk with her for an unedited interview, she has now told The BRAD BLOG during an exclusive interview, she will now tell you everything she knows.

Racism against Muslims has rocketed since 9/11

Yvonne Ridley is a leading member of Respect and a convert to Islam. She said, “There have been continued attacks on Muslims in Britain. These include 3,000 police raids since 9/11. Stop and search of Muslims has rocketed since the 7 July terror attacks on London. I’m sick of people thinking that Muslims are an easy target.”

Reports of such harassment and discrimination against Muslims are rising, advocacy groups say. A USA TODAY/Gallup Poll of 1,007 Americans shows strong anti-Muslim feeling. And the hard feelings are damaging the mental health of U.S. Muslims, suggest new studies to be released at the American Psychological Association meeting starting Thursday in New Orleans.

Disowned by Mentor, Bin Laden Seeks New Pastures

In an open letter, one of his prominent Saudi mentors, preacher and scholar Salman al-Oadah, publicly reproaches bin Laden for causing widespread mayhem and killing. “How many innocent children, elderly people, and women were killed in the name of Al Qaeda?” asks al-Oadah on his website, Islamtoday.com, and in comments on an Arabic television station. “How many people were forced to flee their homes and how much blood was shed in the name of Al Qaeda?” The reaction of his former pupil is not known, but the angry denunciation by bin Laden’s supporters leaves no doubt that it hurts.

That's why it's not wise to assume that most Muslims consider him a Robin Hood figure. I give them much more credit then that.

UHRUZ, Iraq (CNN) -- U.S. forces have begun arming nationalist guerrillas and former Saddam Hussein loyalists -- and coordinating tactics -- in a marriage of convenience against al Qaeda radicals in one of Iraq's most violent provinces, senior U.S. commanders tell CNN.

This new alliance, a result of the deepening divisions among Iraqi insurgent factions, was on display earlier this week at a highway intersection in the town of Tahrir. There, a group of some 15 insurgents publicly chanted: "Death to al Qaeda."

"The al Qaeda organization has dominated and humiliated Sunnis, Shiites and jihadis. It has forced people from their homes. They can't get enough blood. They killed many honest scholars, preachers and loyal mujahedeen," one of the group's spokesmen read from a written manifesto.

So what? Bin Laden would love more prejudice against Muslims, since he probably feels they shouldn't live in western countries anyway. It fuels the belief that the west is out to destroy Islam.

I don't think he particularly cares that a few tribes are turning against them, they got great training in guerilla warfare out of it.

My goodness I have never seen this before! Is it intended to be a delightfully subtle allegory to the current American political climate?

    Yup.

There's plenty other great Goering/Goebbels quotes that read just like current American propaganda. I bet one of the last deals Prescott Bush had with the Germans was probably to hand over all their political propaganda files.
