If you are someone in pursuit of truth, I'd like to ask you these questions:

    (1) What is your motivation for pursuing truth? Ie., what is driving you to pursue truth?

    (2) What is your justification for pursuing truth? Ie., why do you think it is right to pursue truth?

    Thanks for your replies.

    The truth about what?

If you never search for the truth how can you really know what is true and what is not?

1 - Being lied to. Pursuing the truth is removing the lies.

2 - An attempt at control. People are controlled by "believing" in lies.

My sentiments exactly, but I'd like to add to that.

-dealing with close-minded people set in their ways that will believe anything; things that defy common sense 50 ways from Sunday

-dealing with those same types of people that try to ridicule, or even harm anyone who doesn't believe what they do

-dealing with those people who also try to recruit you to believe whatever bullshit they happen to be believing

To understand things as well as people around me. To learn what

really happened and who really did it. Just being told something doesn't

always mean its true so its best to check out what it is that is being said

about anything or anyone before coming to any conclusions. Verifying

something only shows that you aren't gullible about things.

truth is inseparable from pleasure just like falsity is inseparable from distress.

upon gaining truth, there is no greater gain

To be honest I never realized I was after the truth, it just seems to me that its the inate duty of every citizen to seek the "answer", which is usually the truth. However I quickly realized that sometimes ignorance is bliss and we can live with a little diluted truth.

I am not sure...but "truth" is that which I see is judicially sound or fair..it does overshadow actions of evil, so I question many times whether truth is better off than fake good/what is better

Curiosity is certainly one motivation. Something that feels like need in specific situations. I want to understand something about someone or an issue to make me feel safer or perhaps informed enough to make a specific decision.

I like to explore. Physically, mentally....

    I do not consider this.
I do not look at the issue ethically. I can't think of a reason why it would be wrong, but I am not sure I ever checked.

    i love to explore
its a past time i had traveling seeing different cultures
no one is right no one knows the truth even if its there infront of me
and any case when you love people you always want them to know the truth after traveling around abit u learn to love all types of people all colours all shapes and sizes and all accents and you will do anything to get the truth to the people
its a thing that you cant get rid of inside you
there like children and you want them protected from lies and deciept you dont want them hurt you want people to be happy even if they dont know you its a strange thing you have inside when you dont care if they know you or not you just want them to be free from lies and free from say people like howard you never stop to get the message even if Rudd dont know what work you did to get the message
guess its not about getting medals its when the truth is worth more than any medal on earth it represents freedom it has a strange happines bout it
never give up on your pursuit of truth if you really mean it

It's rarity.... were it flooding society I may not have to look for it intently. As an aside, Tolkien says in LOTR, the men of Rohan could not be easily decieved because they did not lie, we however, are decieved daily, because we lie.

[QUOTE What is your justification for pursuing truth? Ie., why do you think it is right to pursue truth?[/QUOTE]

If something is lost, the natural inclination is to find it again.

I find it interesting that so far, no one has dealt with the illicit assumption (and its attendant implications..) the two questions make.

To wit: that there is such a thing as 'truth'.

I'm assuming here, that by 'truth', greenberg refers to an objective ontological state of affairs.

I fail to see how that qualifies.

And I assume you meant 'pursuing'...
