And no, a phaser beam on wide beam would be far harder to block because it would be hitting nearly infinite points on that "force shield", compared to a finite number of blaster impacts. Basic physics would dictate that it would be magnitudes more difficult to diffuse/deflect/absorb energy that is discharged into such a large area at a constant power level.
