They did it everywhere. My guess is HoloNet is not hyperspace based ( but still ahev live communication across the galaxy )

Like a hole in the hyperspace distrubance barrier ( Vector Prime ). It is just Sci-Fi ( Science FICTION ).

Or they will do it like Outbound Flight to open a hole Jorus C'baoth know how to do it. They will connect 6 Venators to a Central Storage Core to go to Milky Way, then 20 Jedi Masters and 1 Jedi Knight ( Including Jorus C'baoth, Yoda and Anakin ) will use the Force to open the barrier.

No, vaporized. If it is 6 meters, it would be just a simple dot compared to a SSD.

It's an ISD, and not if the asteroid is closer to the camera then to the ship

also if I remember correctly, Antaran scaled the asteroid against the beam.

Before him are the hologram images of twenty battleship
commanders. One of these images, the commander of a ship that
has just exploded, is fading away quickly.
    Another image, in
the center and a little apart from the others, is faded and
continually disrupted by static. It is the image of Captain
Needa, commander of the Star Destroyer most hotly on the tail
of the Millennium Falcon. Admiral Piett and an aide stand
    behind the Dark Lord.
Underlined part would seem to indicate that the ship struck by the asteroid was indeed destroyed.
    almost makes all this.

    unnecessary

I will go with that untill I find some more proof or when TW Scott post more proof.
