they control more than a galaxy, remember Rashi Maze, the is a satillite galaxy

producing a ship is not the same as maintaing it, or maning it. but the empire does hold advantage in infrastructure, demographics and production ability. they will need that advantage if they hope to engage any oposition.

ya, cause palpatine. If Vader is the Emporer i dont think they will mind( remember if he was emporer he will rule with good guys like luke and padme, he won't kill alot of people)

so thats why they sont use alot of them. if they dont fight, you need not alot of maintainence.

i agree on the first part. as for what is cheeper, building or maintainence, i can't tell. we should ask Tarkin, he probably knows better then us. but i belive it's not as simple. it's better to have those ships and their crews then build them and spend some years to train a new crew.

i think they have a crew of all droids or clones. bare in mind that the Empire DID use droids.
