The trek team would have detected the ewoks at least a hundred feet away.

Which begs the question of why the imperial scouts didn't spot them there and warn the others. Oh yeah, because they were DEAD.
If the imperial troopers survived then: 1. How did they lose? 2. Who the hell were the ewoks eating after the battle? 3. Why were those helmets they were banging on for drums have blood on/in them?
Fact: The ewoks killed stormtroopers. End of story."An entire legion of my best troops await them."

Umm a 2D map of star locations is FAR different than a 3D one with actual distances, and adjusted for movement of stars based on how far away they are. WE TODAY do not have a complete 3D map of the galaxy including updates, that I am aware of. (I think we have a good chunk of the local area done though)

You mean the rather obvious domes on the bottom of the Mon Calamari cruisers? Those were just as easy to hit, in fact In any of the Tie fighter series you were able to gun them down quite nicely, in a standard Tie/ln (not alot of defense really on the cruisers.)
Oh and both ST and SW have the ability to target specific subsystems, which means the capital ships in Trek would simply lock on to the shield generators and fire a photon spread at them... ooops all your shields are belong to us.

First of Lord, its called spellcheck.
Secondly, the Mayans didn't actually map it that accurately. Actually their accuracy was pathetic. You want to know why?
Distance equals rate times f*cking time.
The Mayans did not have to worry about life and death situations if they were wrong.
If a planet is 10,000 light years away, then the current image you are seeing is a shadow of where the planet actually was. It may not even exist anymore, or there could be a black hole where it's star had collapsed. Or any number of an infinite amount of scenarios.
Its called special relativity, its science and it works bitches

I do like some of the ideas of string theory. I am also pretty partial for loop gravity, if for no other reason then black hole entropy.

Neutron stars are not, I repeat not a singularity because it is not condensed infintely small, and relativity still applies. Neutronium are not I repeat not crystals, and singularities......DEFINETLY NOT LIKE ANYTHING DESCRIBED IN STAR WARS, TO MAKE ARMOR OUT OF THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE!
