don't think of the feds in terms of units. think of it mostly like security forces equiped with what we see on shows and movies

K, Main Empirial force lands just a mile from outpost. Storms, AT-ST's, SPMA-T(artillery). Battle starts with heavy barrage. Counter?

Voyager / Retrospect time index 0:35 An isokinetic canon... "one projectile is capable of penetrating the shields of any heavily armored vessel."

Lets have these guys vs the Empire.

We'll say the Fed's dig in and play a defensive strategy. Barrage ends and the storms attack just outside the outpost.

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is a term originally referring to mean solar time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London

by the way, good start. sinse these are fed ground troops i doubt they'd be using isokinetic cannons. type1,2,3 phasers (pods, pistols, rifles) possibly some kombat phaser rifles or compression rifles. isomagnetic desintegrators are a possinility as well as transporter snipers, but i doubt these are standard issue. personal and facility deflectors probably are.

Lets think of it this way: I am in command of the Imperial forces and you the Fed's. Like a RTS.

in open combat with ST's and artilery on your side, i think the empire has some advantage in this scenario. if i had to fight you with the infantry weapons i described above, i'd go guerilla and try to skirmish as much as possible. using snipers and phasers from long range to avoid rapid fire blasters. i would only engage the ST's if the terrain allows me stealthy aproach and then only with the desintegratos and the explosives.

i hope this will continue to be an interesting debate, but i relly need to go to sleep now. c'ya later guys.

Several. Old ones like Starfleet Academy, Bridge Commander and Conquest to new ones such as the upcoming ST: DAC and ST:Online.

Thanks. I'm a SW fan but I wouldn't mind seeing how good a ST game might be. I knew about the online one, looks cool.

Voyager: Omega Directive Time Index 0:40
"How many drones were sacrificed during this experiment?"
"29 vessels, 600,000 drones, but that is irrelevant."

600k divided by 29 is over 20 thousand per ship. Whoa, thats a lot of suns o' bitches.

Time index 4:05 "This looks like enough for a 50 isoton explosion... what are they planning to blow up a small planet?" and captain says 'Increase the charge to 80 isotons."

Well if Harry was just being humorous about that 40 being used for something like a small planet and they can easily double the charge, it stands to reason they could just increase it to the point where Harry's question wasn't far off, and there ya have it: From weapons of mass distruction to weapons of total annihilation.

As far as firepower it can compare to the Death Star, but that must take a lot of time, preperation, and resources. The Death Star does it in Aprox. 10 seconds, with the pressing of a few buttons, and is unlimited.

Well considering how casually it was said, it is not that dificult to do.

Anyways the death star is slow as hell, and a few quantum torps would obliterate it.

Omega, SW weapons are incredibly inefficient compared to ST.

    Heres a good example

To destroy a planet SW needs a battlestation the size of a fucking moon.

To destroy a planet in ST species 8472 only needs 8 fighter sized space craft, each pretty much 50 feet in length head to toe. (hehe, kinda punny)

I don't think that a ship could get close enough to launch the torps. Note: I'm a big Star Wars fan although I have seen some episodes of the original ST all of Next Generation and seasons 1-4 of Voyager, so I know some of ST.

Uhm, please note - the effective range of a Photon or Quantum Torpedo is well over 200,000 kilometers and the effective observed range of a turbolaser is around 5,000 kilometers (as taken from the movies and comparing weapons optimal ranges + a generous increase to determine max range)... I think a trek ship will have no problem getting in range... even phasers are useful out to over 40,000 kilometers
