when i go into BIOS, It detects 2 hard drives. but when i go to windows..It doesn;t
My hard drives are both SATA II and are running fine, Checked the Cable connections.
So Is there something i'm not doing or should i just take it to a specialist ?

Is there anything on this second drive? Go to control panel/administrative tools/computer management / storage/disk management, and see if the drive shows up there.

Yeah, did that but it didn't show up. btw on BIOS the only difference between the 2 drives is one is 3M and the other 4 M and when i try to boot from the other drive (3M) it won't.
that's how i know that BIOS is detecting it.

could be a bad drive...maybe Stryder, the Jedi master, might have an answer.

Thanks anyway. I get two drives in Device manager though, the only difference being that you can disable one but not the other.

the one you can disable would be the secondary drive, windows doesn't let you disable the drive that windows is running off.

rightclick 'my computer' and click 'manage'.
on the menu down the left, bring up 'disk management'.
you should now have a list of all optical and virtual drives in your computer, as well as a graphic showing which partitions are on which drives.
find the drive that isnt showing up(i assume you know the serial number or at least the drive size) and check that it is properly partitioned/formatted

But you DID go to a SPECIALIST. The internet (and specifically SF) is a wonderful thing. Isn't it?

The drive was not formated? Oh, NOW it's obvious...

Unfortunately I was unavailable to answer questions I had been a little preoccupied killing 'Bane' in Richard Garriott's Tabula Rasa prior to it's full release. I've actually now finished my playing/testing and might write something on it shortly.
