Lost and alone in a product of my mind
    A fallacious reality--of this I am certain
    Struggling to know myself
    Struggling to grasp reality
Struggling to find truth among chaos
    Can it end?

Insight into my mind. I have tried to look within for guidance, but have not succeeded. Do you have any advice? I am lost.

    Kind regards,
    Nathan

Loosing yourself is yet another step to understanding yourself.

Nathan, pray to that which is most dearest to you, pray to the image of it.

When I awoke I did not know myself and light did not scatter through my eyes. I was alone surrounded by emptiness. And soon I lost myself. The images danced wildly and life passed as though seconds have gone by and life was a book but I was not there to see it.

Well, it all depends with what you're stuck with. If it's deeply personal, then most likely it's being chewed over. Be calm about it, I'd say, and learn the first thing about patience: don't struggle!

The struggle to know yourself is a lifelong endeavor as is trying to grasp reality and truth, well, who knows what truth is, we all can only guess and maybe find some of it before we pass on. If you build a solid foundation within and can keep an open mind, things should go well for you.

Why does it have to be a struggle? I get the impression that when one simply ponders, one will describe it as a struggle. However, there are things with which one will struggle with—but in Nathan's case, we're not sure what it is. The only clue we have is that there's "a product" involved, and that he's trapped in it.

Mmmm. That too is a clue; the fact that it was written in verse. But a clue that goes equally both ways: to dignify one's experience, or to strengthen an experience that is otherwise anaemic?

    How old are you?

Do you have any good friends?

Do you have parents (if under the age of 30)

    Are you married?

How long have you been lost?

    What are you lost from?

if you're not happy all the time, it's because you live in a country where there are many seasons.

when the sun is shining, god is smiling
when it's raining, angels are crying.

if you want to be happy, move to africa where there are no seasons that change your mood.

if you're still lost, watch lost.

universal suicide would be the solution to everything, but the universe can't be destroyed (you are an eternal being), so there is no solution. nothing matters, so everything just becomes matter all the time.

No-no-no-no. When it's raining, God is either dreaming or tranquility is musing.

Nobody is happy all of the time, and if someone is there is something wrong with him/her.

i don't unerstand why you don't commit suicide then... since you're an atheist, you believe that you will disappear when you die, it would be a solution to all your problems. you would be happy all the time because you would no longer exist. eternal absense of sadness = eternal happiness/perfection.

if i wasn't 100% happy all the time, i would instantly commit suicide if i could.

I'm not unhappy all of the time either. And not being happy does not mean you are particularly unhappy.
If I would kill myself and 'disappear' as you call it how would I be happy ? I wouldn't exist anymore and therefore I wouldn't be around to feel happy.

And you are also not happy ALL of the time :bugeye:

neither would you have any need to feel happy, so what's the "problem"?

The 'problem' is my instinct to live and stay alive, which is characterizing of all life.
