Does anyone know of any cool science experiments for high school kids?

It needs to emphasize education, I must be able to explain it in 5-7 minutes, and I'd like something with cool and dramatic effects for fun.

    two words: POTATOE GUN!!!!

Not only are they fun as hell to use, you could make a science fair project out of ballistic trajectories, maybe employ very basic calculus to predict how fast a projectile is exiting if it goes yay-far launched at yay-angle.

One of my earlier memories was my science teacher setting up a device with 2 metre rulers and a load of elastic bands to clap together and make a large sound. Then sent one kid to the end of the playing field while the rest of us at the other end timed the difference between seeing the rulers snap together and hearing the sound.

Maybe you had to be there.

In case you didn't gather this would demonstrate how sound travels slower than light.
