I just had this random thought, which song would stick with you, which song can look on and say, that brings back so many memories? this is mine:

    THE RASMUS: LUCIFERS ANGEL

Behind those eyes lies the truth
    and grief
    Behind those beautiful smiles
    I've seen tragedy
    The flawless skin hides
    the secrets within
The silent forces that secretly ignite
    your sins

    Fly away
    fly away
    From the torch of blame
    They hunt you-the Lucifer's Angel

    Never lived
    you never died
    Your life has been denied
    They call you
    The Lucifer's Angel

    Beyond these clouds you can
    hide all your tears
Beyond this world you'll be safe
    from their wicked fears
And in their hearts they fear
    your demands
    You know their minds
    won't accept you, they'll never
    understand

    Fly away
    fly away
    From the torch of blame
    They hunt you
    Lucifer's Angels

    You never lived
    you never died
    Your life has been denied
    They call you
    The Lucifer's Angel

    On your own
I know you can make it
    truth or bone
I know you can shake it
    Survive alone
I know you can take it
    ohhhohhhohhh
    -------------------------------------------
    and this one:

    I tear my heart open
    I sew myself shut
    My weakness is that
    I care too much
    And my scars remind me
    That the past is real
    I tear my heart open
    Just to feel

I'm drunk and I'm feeling down
And I just wanna be alone
I'm pissed 'cuz you came around
Why don't you just go home
'Cuz I've channeled all your pain
And I can't help you fix yourself
    You're making me insane
    All I can say is

    I tear my heart open
    I sew myself shut
    And my weakness is that
    I care too much
    And our scars remind us
    That the past is real
    I tear my heart open
    Just to feel

I tried to help you once
    Against my own advice
    I saw you going down
    But you never realized
That you're drowning in the water
So I offered you my hand
    Compassion's in my nature
    Tonight is our last stand

    I tear my heart open
    I sew myself shut
    And my weakness is that
    I care too much
    And our scars remind us
    That the past is real
    I tear my heart open
    Just to feel

I'm drunk and I'm feeling down
And I just wanna be alone
    You shoulda never come around
Why don't you just go home
'Cuz you're drowning in the water
And I tried to grab your hand
    I left my heart open
    But you didn't understand

    Go fix yourself

I can't help you fix yourself
But at least I can say I tried
I'm sorry but I gotta move on with my own life
I can't help you fix yourself
But at least I can say I tried
I'm sorry but I gotta move on with my own life

    I tear my heart open
    I sew myself shut
    And my weakness is that
    I care too much
    And our scars remind us
    That the past is real
    I tear my heart open
    Just to feel

    -----------------------

so tell me what are your favourate songs

When I was back there in seminary school, there was a person there
Who put forth the proposition, that you can petition the lord with prayer
Petition the lord with prayer, petition the lord with prayer
You cannot petition the lord with prayer!
Can you give me sanctuary, I must find a place to hide, a place for me to hide
Can you find me soft asylum, I cant make it anymore, the man is at the door
Peppermint, miniskirts, chocolate candy, champion sax and a girl named sandy
Theres only four ways to get unraveled, one is to sleep and the other is travel, da da
One is a bandit up in the hills, one is to love your neighbor till
    His wife gets home
Catacombs, nursery bones, winter women, growing stones
    Carrying babies, to the river
Streets and shoes, avenues, leather riders
Selling news, the monk bought lunch
Ha ha, he bought a little, yes, he did, woo!
This is the best part of the trip, this is the trip, the best part
I really like, whatd he say? , yeah!, yeah, right!
Pretty good, huh, huh!, yeah, Im proud to be a part of this number
Successful hills are here to stay, everything must be this way
Gentle streets where people play, welcome to the soft parade
All our lives we sweat and save, building for a shallow grave
Must be something else we say, somehow to defend this place
Everything must be this way, everything must be this way, yeah

The soft parade has now begun, listen to the engines hum
People out to have some fun, a cobra on my left
    Leopard on my right, yeah
The deer woman in a silk dress, girls with beads around their necks
Kiss the hunter of the green vest, who has wrestled before
    With lions in the night
Out of sight!, the lights are getting brighter
The radio is moaning, calling to the dogs
There are still a few animals, left out in the yard
But its getting harder, to describe sailors, to the underfed
    Tropic corridor, tropic treasure
What got us this far, to this mild equator?
We need someone or something new
Something else to get us through, yeah, cmon
Callin on the dogs, callin on the dogs
Oh, its gettin harder, callin on the dogs
Callin in the dogs, callin all the dogs, callin on the gods
You gotta meet me, too late, baby
Slay a few animals, at the crossroads, too late
All in the yard, but its gettin harder, by the crossroads
You gotta meet me, oh, were goin, were goin great
At the edge of town, tropic corridor, tropic treasure
Havin a good time, got to come along, what got us this far
To this mild equator? , outskirts of the city, you and i
We need someone new, somethin new, somethin else to get us through
Better bring your gun, better bring your gun
Tropic corridor, tropic treasure, were gonna ride and have some fun
When all else fails, we can whip the horses eyes
And make them sleep, and cry

    Life's A Gas
    Marc Bolan and T. Rex

I could have loved you girl
    Like a planet
I could have chained your heart
    To a star

But it really doesn't matter at all
No it really doesn't matter at all
    Life's a gas,
    I hope it's gonna last

I could have built a house
    On the ocean
I could have placed your love
    In the sky.

But it really doesn't matter at all
No it really doesn't matter at all
    Life's a gas,
    I hope it's gonna last

    I could have turned you
    Into a priestess
    I could have burned
    Your fate in the sand

But it really doesn't matter at all
No it really doesn't matter at all
    Life's a gas,

But it really doesn't matter at all
No it really doesn't matter at all
    Life's a gas,
    I hope it's gonna last

But it really doesn't matter at all
No it really doesn't matter at all
    Life's a gas.

    Mr Blobby - Blobby Blobby

    10 seconds... 7... 6... 5... 4... 3... Ignition... Lift off

Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, if only you could make us understand
Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, your influence will spread throughout the land

Let's hear it for Mr Blobby
    (Blobby, blobby, blobby)

His philosophy of life will steer him through
And as far as he can see
He's the same as you and me
There's nothing in the world he cannot do

No hill too high, no desert too dry
No road too long, no tide too strong
No bridge too far, he's got a car
No slope to steep, no thought too deep
No star too bright, no squeeze too tight
No tale too tall, no cat too cool
No bass too low, he'll give it a go
No end to his talents, no sense of balance

Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, when disaster strikes you never get depressed
Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, you'll always prove that Blobby is the best

    Although he's unconventional in hue
His philosophy of life will steer him through
    And despite the limitation
    Of his poor co-ordination
He knows he'll show the world a thing or two

    (Blobby, blobby, blobby)

Blobby, Mr Blobby, you're the guy who puts the do in do or die
Blobby, Mr Blobby, your deeds are guaranteed to stupefy

No ride too rough, no test too tough
No act too slick, no race too quick
No shot too hot, he'll hit the spot
No style too chic, no joke too weak
No chance too slim, no fate too grim
No foe too strog, no odds too long
No price too high, he's put some by
No dodge, no doubt, no backing out

Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, if humanity's a question of degree
Blobby, Mr Blobby, stay loyal to your Blobby pedigree
Blobby, oh Mr Blobby, you're the one who bears the pink and yellow crest
Blobby, Mr Blobby, you'll always prove that Blobby is the best

That was pretty cute! Thanks for sharing it. The world desperately needs more silliness.

Not only am I a musician, but I've been around a long time, so it would be hard to pick one song. But for the sake of the thread, I'll say "Me and Bobby McGee." It was something I felt personally, on many levels. It's surely the song I sang the most times, back when I was a singer.

(Bobby has to be a woman. That's the whole point of the song, the commentary on why "the sixties" had to end. Janis Joplin's gender-bent version was a real forehead-slapper.)
