People keep attempting to sell their own body parts, a kidney is the latest
in the news, a guy trying to pay off a gambling debt.
So why not? in this case he will probably loose a body part one way or another.

Because the "authorities" are worried about the "slippery slope" of selling ones own body parts. I.e., someone might be "coerced" or "forced" to sign the legal documents so that the parts can be sold ...and the "bad guy" gets all the money ...and the "parts supplier" gets to keep the rest of his parts!

One man's loss is another man's gain. There is nothing wrong with selling what is yours...

Uh. This is akin to suicide, no? In essence, removing a body part has the potential to kill you. Why shouldn't you be able to do what you want to yourself? It's not causing harm to others, is it? Why not take your own life if it's going to make you feel better/not at all? See the connection?
